    ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The Cambridge Redevelopment Authority (CRA) is a public agency that works to advance innovative, community-centered real estate and infrastructure projects across the City of Cambridge. As a civic redevelopment entity, the CRA brings a human dimension to development, balancing economic vitality, housing, open space, and community needs to improve quality of life for residents, businesses, employees, and visitors.

Through its strategic planning and partnerships with the City of Cambridge and local organizations, the CRA delivers projects that promote social equity, environmental sustainability and inclusive economic opportunity such as the Foundry Demonstration Project, amendments to the Kendall Square Urban Renewal Plan (KSURP), the Forward Fund nonprofit grant program and multiple park and streetscape improvements. Current priorities span affordable home ownership development, preservation of mission-aligned commercial and nonprofit spaces, and the delivery of essential community infrastructure such as open space and transportation facilities.

The CRA is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion as foundational principles. The organization values the lived experiences of Cambridge’s communities and recognizes the impact of redevelopment efforts on residents and neighborhoods. The CRA fosters a flexible, supportive, and family-friendly work environment and encourages individuals of all backgrounds and abilities to contribute to its mission.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

The CRA is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Asset Management Specialist to play a crucial role in our organization. As part of the Finance and Operations team, this hands-on position assists with the management of the CRA’s capital assets, including real estate properties and technology equipment. This role coordinates the work of third-party property management, landscaping management, and snow management companies. The position will also lead to the care and deployment of the organization’s technology equipment.

This role is ideal for a proactive problem-solver who can effortlessly transition between coordinating a roof repair and troubleshooting a projector setup. It demands strong organizational skills to maintain accurate asset records and the technical aptitude to quickly diagnose and address equipment issues across various platforms. The ability to adapt quickly to new technology and unfamiliar physical environments is paramount to success.

The specialist acts as the frontline coordinator for the physical environment at CRA properties. This involves ensuring the premises are well-maintained, safe, and fully operational. It includes property maintenance coordination, managing vendor relationships (e.g., HVAC, cleaning, repairs), and overseeing the inventory of all non-IT physical assets (furniture, office supplies, tools).

This function ensures the company's critical technology and specialized equipment are functioning reliably. A critical component is the Audio/Visual (AV) readiness for executive functions, requiring the setup, testing, and real-time troubleshooting of sophisticated conference room technology for board meetings and other high-level events. Additionally, coordinate technology applications at properties including internet and security systems.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Independently monitor the activities of the daily operations of the properties, and report significant information to the Senior Manager of Buildings and Construction, and the Director of Finance and Operations.

    • Direct and monitor the third-party property management companies to ensure tenant satisfaction, smooth building operations, and thorough property maintenance.
    • Identify, evaluate, and recommend capital improvement and replacement projects in the agency’s

    operating portfolio.

    • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all company assets, including furniture, office

    equipment, tools, and technical hardware.

    • Track asset deployment, relocation, maintenance, and disposal, ensuring compliance with company policies and best practices.
    • Assist with the maintenance of the CRA’s professional office in coordination with landlord and other

    operational staff.

    • Assist in the purchasing process for new equipment and supplies, ensuring value and standardization.
    • Conduct regular physical audits of company assets across various locations.
    • Provide hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for a wide range of organizational equipment, including but not limited to IT hardware (laptops, desktops, printers), network peripherals, and other proprietary company equipment.
    • Set up, test, and ensure the proper functioning of Audio/Visual equipment (projectors, microphones, video conferencing tools) for executive and board meetings. Provide immediate technical assistance during these critical meetings.
    • Create and maintain clear documentation for asset configurations, support procedures, and

    troubleshooting guides.

    • Serve as a secondary point of contact for basic technical issues, escalating complex problems to the IT team as necessary.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: An Associate Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Experience/Training: Current enrollment or successful completion of a relevant professional

certification (e.g., Information Technology, CompTIA A+, ITIL, or property/facilities management

credential) will be considered instead of a degree.

    • Minimum of three years of experience in general management.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Technical Aptitude: Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic issues with computer hardware, operating systems, and common business applications.
    • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information clearly to multiple stakeholders.
    • Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and work environments.
    • Hands-On Ability: Must be comfortable and effective in a hands-on role that requires physical activity, including lifting and moving equipment (up to 25 lbs).
    • Critical Thinker: Proactive, solutions-oriented thinker capable of anticipating challenges and mitigating risks in complex projects.
    • Technology: Computer literacy in various software applications using spreadsheets, word processing, and databases; not limited to troubleshooting of technology equipment.
    • Teamwork: Strong collaboration and team-building skills, with the ability to lead project teams, and work closely with diverse professionals.
    • Commitment to the CRA’s dual bottom line of social mission and financial viability.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role is based in an office setting in Kendall Square but requires frequent on-site presence at CRA-owned

buildings and construction project locations, as well as regular meetings with contractors, stakeholders, and

community members. This role requires attendance at some evening meetings. It is a full-time position with a 37.5-hour work week. The CRA operates within a permanent hybrid office and remote work structure where 60% of working hours are spent in the office or at project sites.
