    ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL

    HEALTH CARE & FAIR COMPETITION BUREAU

    HEALTH CARE DIVISION

    Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated Assistant Attorney General to join the Healthcare Division within the Health Care & Fair Competition Bureau. This dedicated and experienced litigator will join the Health Care Division in protecting Massachusetts consumers and improving our health care system.

    The responsibilities of the Attorney General’s Health Care Division are to advocate for and enforce Massachusetts laws protecting health care consumers; to promote health care access, affordability, and equity; and to help consumers understand their health care rights and mediate consumer disputes with health care payers and providers.

    Primary Duties: Investigating and litigating consumer protection cases involving health insurers, health care providers, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and other individuals and entities in the health care sector and working with Assistant Attorneys General from other states to examine multi-state conduct. The Assistant Attorney General will be responsible for all aspects of case development, discovery, and final resolution through settlement or litigation. Attorneys in the division may also be called on to (a) address legal questions relating to state and federal health rules and regulations, (b) assist consumers with health care questions or concerns, and (c) assist the Attorney General in monitoring trends related to the cost and quality of health care in Massachusetts.

    Position Requirements:

    • At least six years of post-JD litigation or equivalent experience.
    • A member of the Massachusetts Bar or eligible for admission by motion.
    • Demonstrated commitment to practicing law in the public interest.
    • Effective writing, legal-analytical, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
    • Ability to quickly grasp complex business and financial arrangements.
    • Ability to collaborate and represent the Office with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    Applicants must be Massachusetts Bar eligible at the time of application and must apply for admission before their start date. Candidates who are not yet admitted may be hired as ‘Counsel’ and must pass the Massachusetts Bar within one year of their start date.

    Position Type: Full-time/Exempt

    Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.

    Salary: $84,134 to $125,572, commensurate with JD year and experience.
