The Office of the New York State Attorney General’s (OAG) Environmental Protection Bureau is seeking Project Attorneys to serve in the New York City office. The selected attorneys will be hired as Project Attorneys for a 24-month term with the possibility to extend for an additional 12 months. The Environmental Protection Bureau enforces state and federal environmental laws that protect New Yorkers’ rights to clean air, clean water, and safe and healthy communities, and conducts investigations into violations of those laws. The bureau is focused on advancing environmental justice throughout the state, including addressing the inequitable distribution of pollution and other environmental health burdens, and associated health disparities.
The Project Attorneys will join a team of attorneys and scientists representing the state of New York in a complex, multi-district litigation in which the state is pursuing claims involving environmental harms caused by toxic chemicals. We anticipate the project attorney will assist the team in all aspects of discovery and dispositive motion practice, including:
