The New Mexico Public Education Department's Evaluation Team is responsible for conducting research and evaluation of policies and programs within the organization. Members of the team work closely with policy makers, IT staff, and leadership to conduct statistical analyses to answer pressing policy questions. In particular, the Evaluation Team develops and runs the models that provide the basis for New Mexico's teacher evaluation system, A-F school grading, and teacher preparation program evaluation. The Evaluation Team conducts internal and external trainings and presentations on the research and analyses that the members are working on. One of the main goals of the team is to effectively communicate statistics and research to broad audiences who may not have a statistical background.
