AmeriCorps NCCC is a residential national service program for men and women between the ages of 18 and 24. For 10 months, members serve on teams to meet urgent community needs in disaster relief, the environment, infrastructure building, and other pressing issues. Teams work on projects throughout the country with non-profit organizations, state and local agencies, and other community and faith-based groups. NCCC also administers FEMA Corps, an innovative partnership between the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). FEMA Corps members focus solely on emergency management, providing important service to disaster survivors by supporting FEMA operations in field offices across the country.
Members are stationed at one of five campuses: Sacramento, CA; Denver, CO; Perry Point, MD; Vinton, IA; and Vicksburg, MS.
AmeriCorps NCCC members are provided with:
o Housing
o Food
o Uniforms
o Health Benefits
o Necessary transportation
o Qualified student loan forbearance
o Living stipend
o $5,730 Education award that can be applied to future schooling or to pay off existing student loans
