Upper Savannah Regional Volunteer Ombudsman Program

The Upper Savannah Regional Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is the investigative agency for non-criminal abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and standard of care complaints in nursing homes, assisted living, and facilities operated by the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs and Mental Health in Greenwood, Laurens, Abbeville, McCormick, Edgefield, and Saluda Counties. As part of the Upper Savannah Regional Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, the Volunteer Ombudsman Program conducts routine access visits to nursing homes and assisted living facilities as required by the Older Americans Act and the Omnibus Adult Protection Act. Certified Volunteer Ombudsman makes visits weekly, biweekly, or monthly to these facilities in order to check on residents well-being and safety. Certified Volunteer Ombudsmen listen to concerns, and report them to the Upper Savannah Regional Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.
