Acerca de

The New York City public school system is the largest in the country, composed of approximately 1,800 schools, 75,000+ teachers, and over 1.1 million students.  Our shared mission is to provide our 1.1 million students with an education that gives them the tools to thrive in school, in future careers, and as active members of their communities.

The Office of Policy and Evaluation works across the Department to shape policies and practices to promote the best learning conditions for students and to further impact student achievement.  Our teams oversee the quantitative elements of the DOE's accountability system, including the School Quality Reports, the NYC School Survey and Student Perception Survey, as well as the Advance teacher evaluation and development system for teacher ratings and measures of student learning.

The Office of Policy and Evaluation encompasses seven sub-offices: Academic Policy and Systems; Assessment; Data Management; Talent Research and Data; Research and Policy Support; School Performance; and School Quality.  Overall, our team supports the creation of data tools, reports, and resources to equip school leaders with the information they need to meet school performance targets, identify issues and provide support to their teachers and students.
