In April of 2015, Mayor Steven M. Fulop established Jersey City VISTA (JC VISTA), a federally-funded volunteer project that addresses the needs of low-income residents by expanding economic opportunity, engaging youth and strengthening communities. JC VISTA is part of the AmeriCorps VISTA, a nationwide program whose corps volunteer full-time for a year at nonprofit organizations or local government agencies to carry out programs that fight poverty.
