Huntsville Public Library Literacy Program

The mission of the Huntsville Public Library is to inform, educate and culturally enrich the lives of the greatest possible number of citizens of all ages and from varying cultural and economic backgrounds by collecting, organizing and providing easy access to educational, informational, recreational and cultural resources to meet their changing service needs.

Huntsville Public Library has long been a partner with the Huntsville Area Literacy Council. The Huntsville Area Literacy Council began in 1990 as a non-profit volunteer program designed to teach adults to read, or to read better, and to aid those who wanted to learn to speak, read and write English.

The Huntsville Area Literacy Council is affiliated with ProLiteracy America and Literacy Texas.
