OC Read

Since 1991, OC Read has provided free, one-on-one tutoring to adults working on improving their reading and writing skills. Through literacy tutoring, adult learners are empowered to find their voice and strengthen and achieve their goals in major life roles as individuals, family members, workers, and community members.

In addition to traditional tutoring, OC Read also offer engaging, educational programming to support family literacy. Through Family Literacy Services, family members of all ages connect to build community while exploring opportunities to learn and practice literacy skills in unique ways.

Although our home base is at Tustin Library, our services and events occur in library branches throughout the OC Public Libraries system, and are supported by volunteers across Orange County. Volunteers of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome. Volunteer roles include tutoring adult learners through one of OC Read's two tutoring tracks, supporting programming, engaging with potential new learners, and more.

OC Read is a part of California Library Literacy Services grant programming. California Library Literacy Services is a project of the California State Library, supported with funds from the State of California.
