Organizational Values:
Scholarship
At Black Girls Do STEM, we rigorously engage in learning by doing. We embody the mindset of being lifelong learners and solution creators. With hands-on learning at the center of our model, not only will we provide scholarships to youth through rigor, but also, we will also embody the same rigor, problem-solving, systems thinking mindset, and stick-to-it-ness we facilitate throughout programming.
Tenacity
At Black Girls Do STEM, we take risks to build skills; failing fast and forward, making sure we get the lesson from our learning. This is done through a culture of collaboration, self-awareness, and reflection. We cultivate this culture by learning new systems through research and putting them into practice through competency and trust.
Empowerment + Equity
At Black Girls Do STEM, we empower through exposure, as we learn by doing. We guarantee transparency in our processes, access to all, and deep listening to spur a culture of safe action, courage, and accountability. To have equity outcomes not just for our kids but for our entire organization. This requires us to correct in the spirit of love and growth and allow many opportunities for learning to happen.
Mentorship
At Black Girls Do STEM, we believe everyone and anyone can be the coach or coachee. We approach each other with the same curiosity that lives in our programming, working to lead and learn with and from each other.
Our Path Forward: Why Work for Black Girls Do STEM
In 2025, Black Girls Do STEM launched an ambitious new five-year strategic plan — a bold roadmap to expand our impact and empower the next generation of changemakers. With clear goals for the next three years, we’ve reignited our mission, vision, and values with renewed energy, purpose, and hope for what’s ahead.
Since our founding in 2019, we’ve grown from an idea into a movement — one that’s intentional about understanding our strengths, preparing for the future, and navigating the complex world around us with authenticity and courage. We commit to learn as we lead. This strategic plan marks a defining moment in our journey — a moment to align deeply with who we are and what we stand for.
At Black Girls Do STEM, we don’t just say our values — we live them. Every team member plays a vital role in shaping meaningful experiences for our youth and driving lasting change in our community.
If you’re passionate about equity, innovation, and creating opportunities for young Black girls to and thrive in STEM with joy and power, we invite you to join us. Bring your skills, your vision, and your drive — and help us build a future where every girl can see herself as a scientist, technologist, engineer, mathematician and leader.
Together, we’re not just implementing a plan — we’re building a legacy. Stay tuned for the official public release of our plan in January 2026.
