    About NHA: NHA is a national non-profit trade association dedicated exclusively to advancing the interests of the U.S. water power industry, which provides clean, around-the-clock reliable electricity to 25+ million American homes and families. NHA’s membership consists of more than 300 organizations, including conventional hydropower, pumped storage, and marine energy technologies.

    Position Purpose & Responsibilities: As head of NHA’s Regulatory Affairs team, the successful candidate will advocate on behalf of all forms of water power before the White House and federal and state regulatory agencies. The individual will also represent NHA with NGO’s, trade associations, and national coalitions.Specific responsibilities will include:

      • Strengthening NHA’s advocacy program before the Executive branch, including the National Energy Dominance Council, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the federal land-management agencies, the Bureau of Reclamation, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
      • Engaging industry members on wholesale electricity market issues, including environmental and energy markets, and building relationships with federal and state agencies impacting market policy, including FERC, state energy and air offices, NARUC, and others.
      • Coordinating NHA’s Regulatory Affairs Committee, including sharing key developments on regulatory and market policy issues of import to the industry, facilitating industry members’ ability to network and share information on regulatory practices and operations (including developing workshops and webinars on regulatory and market issues), and representing the association at industry conferences and meetings.
      • Leading topic coordinator in planning, organizing, and/or leading regulatory and market sessions at NHA events, such as NHA’s Waterpower Week in Washington, Clean Currents, and regional meetings.

    Ideal Candidate Will Have:

      • 7+ years’ experience in senior policy positions and regulatory work or related experience in the Administration, on Capitol Hill, a trade association, law firm, or equivalent.
      • Knowledge of energy issues required, with hydropower experience preferred.
      • Proven ability to lead teams, work with diverse membership, and manage budgets.
      • Ability to travel when needed.
      • Dynamic communication skills with speaking experience, political advocacy and analytical skills, and a healthy sense of humor.
