    SENIOR ORGANIZER

    Remote Position with Travel

    ABOUT CLASS ACTION

Class Action is a student-driven nonprofit holding elite colleges accountable to their public missions. Our work has been featured in The Guardian, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, TIME, and other major outlets.

We operate on the principle that “elite” institutions are not living up to their public obligations. They admit more students from the top 1% than the bottom 50% combined and push the majority of graduates into finance, consulting, and tech through a process called ‘career funneling.’

In just two years, we’ve built a movement challenging them to do better. With over 150 organizers on dozens of campuses, we played a pivotal role in passing legislation aimed at ending legacy admissions in California, hosted catalytic conferences at Brown and Yale Universities, and built an expansive network to sustain our advocacy. With wind in our sails, we're now expanding our team.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

What if we measured career success by impact instead of income? What if teaching, organizing for justice, or advancing public health earned the same respect as consulting at McKinsey?

Elite U.S. universities have spent decades funneling students into corporate careers. At schools with the richest endowments, roughly half of graduates flow into just three sectors: consulting, finance, and tech. Through career services, recruiting, and institutional culture, they've equated success with corporate profit and pushed public-interest work to the margins. This shapes cultural values far beyond campus. But research shows this outcome isn't inevitable – colleges actively funnel graduates into these sectors, which means that with the right pressure and policy changes, we can reverse this trend.

We're hiring a Senior Organizer to lead our national campaign holding elite universities accountable for career funneling. You'll expose how these institutions narrow students' horizons, elevate student voices demanding change, and push for concrete reforms that dismantle corporate pipelines and expand pathways to public-interest work. Student organizers will drive this campaign, building power to force institutional change. This role combines strategy, training, and movement-building with room to make it your own.

    • Campaign Leadership: Recruit, train, and support student leaders to organize on their campuses; lead Class Action’s career funneling strategy and co-develop high-impact campaign goals; support up to 10 student-led campus-specific campaigns; create organizing resources; host virtual and in-person student gatherings.
    • Movement Building: Forge partnerships with faculty, administrators, funders, and allies to bolster campus-level and national campaigns; help coordinate our annual conference; represent Class Action at public events.
    • Narrative Creation: Use social, video, and written media to shift norms; support students in storytelling efforts.
