SAADA is hiring for a High Performance Generalist.

What is that? A High Performance Generalist is an individual who can learn quickly and drive projects forward regardless of functional area. In short, it’s a person who enjoys taking on challenges and who gets stuff done quickly and well.

SAADA is itself a high-performance nonprofit. We hold ourselves to a high standard because we know how much our work matters to our community. As one community member has shared, to see yourself in SAADA’s archive is “to suddenly discover yourself existing.” Our goal is to ensure that every South Asian American knows they belong in America’s past, present, and future.

As the leading source for South Asian American history, SAADA’s digital archive, exhibits, storytelling initiatives, lesson plans, walking tours, books, and board games help shape public understanding of over 250 years of history that most Americans never learn in schools, read in books, or see reflected in media.

Over 18 years, SAADA has grown from a volunteer-run organization with a $300 annual budget to a national leader in community storytelling, with a full-time staff, a $1 million budget, and an office in Center City, Philadelphia. We are thoughtful and strategic about SAADA’s growth and intentional about keeping our team small and agile.

About the Role

The High Performance Generalist is a key member of our full-time staff. Rather than hiring for a specific functional area, we are seeking a colleague who enjoys working cross-functionally and collaboratively.

In this role, you will report to SAADA’s Deputy Director and work closely with SAADA’s Executive Director. You will be working on execution across marketing and communications, revenue generation, programs and events, and operations.

In the coming year, we’re launching a new intergenerational storytelling board game, a national poetry contest, and a call for visual artists in Philadelphia; developing a new walking tour of Harlem and a new digital archiving initiative; and much, much more. The High Performance Generalist will get to play a central part in the success of each of these initiatives. Compensation

This role is open to candidates with at least 3 years of full-time professional experience.

The salary range for High Performance Generalists at SAADA is as follows:

• 3–5 years of full-time experience: $60,000–$70,000 (senior coordinator level)
• 6–9 years of full-time experience: $70,000–$80,000 (manager level)
• 10+ years of full-time experience: $80,000–$90,000 (senior manager level)

Location

This role is in person at SAADA’s office in Center City, Philadelphia. Fridays are typically remote unless there is a need to be in person. We also have occasional evening or weekend programs or events that you will be part of, averaging 2–3 per month.
