    Descripción

Since 1922, FPWA has driven groundbreaking policy reforms to better serve those in need. We work to dismantle the systemic barriers that impede economic security and well-being, and strengthen the capacity of human services agencies and faith organizations so New Yorkers with lower incomes can thrive and live with dignity. FPWA engages in research and analysis-driven policymaking and advocacy; program and practice testing to inform policy change; strengthening capacity to build more effective and responsive organizations; and, raising awareness, educating and mobilizing on the issues and policies that most impede economic security and well-being.

FPWA is seeking a strategic, mission-driven Assistant Director of Development (ADOD) to join our growing team. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the ADOD will help advance our $2 million annual fundraising goals and play a key role in strengthening a high-performing development team.

This is a new position ideal for a fundraising professional with 5–7 years of experience, strong donor engagement and project management skills, and a commitment to racial justice and economic security. The ADOD will manage a donor portfolio, lead prospecting and research efforts, support campaigns and events, help streamline processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness, and provide regular updates to the CDO, leadership and key stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of fundraising at FPWA and grow alongside a mission-aligned, collaborative, high performing team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Help develop and grow FPWA’s individual giving program, with a focus on donor acquisition, stewardship, and retention
    • Build and manage a portfolio of low- to mid-level donors and prospects
    • Conduct donor research and prospecting; identify 25 to 50 new prospects annually and close 3- to 5-figure gifts, with an annual portfolio goal of $250K–$350K
    • Build segmented outreach lists and support personalized donor emails and direct mail campaigns
    • Support the CDO in executing fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals, end-of-year giving, planned giving, and special initiatives
    • Plan and implement donor-facing events (virtual and in-person), including briefings, receptions, and FPWA’s developing annual event
    • Analyze giving trends and campaign performance to inform strategies
    • Generate reports, track donor activity, and provide regular development updates to the CDO and leadership
    • Review giving history and maintain reporting accuracy using Excel and CRM systems
    • Draft donor proposals, one-pagers, and customized funding materials
    • Collaborate with communications, policy, programs, and communications teams to align messaging and digital fundraising
    • Create systems and templates that improve execution, consistency, and efficiency across the department
    • Provide project management support and track key deliverables across development priorities
    • Promote development best practices and support a culture of philanthropy across FPWA
    • Contribute to department goal setting, strategic planning, and budgeting
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • 5–7 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, ideally with demonstrated history of supporting low-income and vulnerable populations
    • Experience managing donor relationships and supporting or leading individual giving programs
    • Strong donor research, prospecting, and data analysis skills
    • Demonstrated success planning donor events and executing multi-channel campaigns
    • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
    • Proficient with data management systems and ability to leverage data to drive strategy and donor engagement
    • Fluency in Salesforce or similar CRM systems; strong data and reporting capabilities
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Highly organized with strong time management and follow-through
    • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
    • Committed to FPWA’s mission of advancing racial equity and economic security

    SALARY & BENEFITS:

    • Salary range: $90,000 minimum to $110,000 maximum, commensurate with experience.
    • Excellent Benefit Package including medical, dental, vision, life, 403(b) with match and more.
    • Ample Vacation Time: Four weeks of paid vacation accumulated during the year plus fifteen company holidays.
    • Professional Development: Resources committed to bolster professional and personal growth.
    • Modern & Flexible Work Environment: Our team works in a beautifully designed open workspace with flexible and tech-equipped meeting spaces to support different workstyles, promote team building, and collaboration.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

As part of building a culture where employees can do their best work, FPWA currently employs a hybrid model. Employees are in-office twice per week and senior leadership is in-office three times per week. This role follows a hybrid schedule of two days per week in the office. During peak fundraising periods, flexibility to come in up to three days per week may occasionally be required.

    We observe company-wide remote Fridays.

Given the work and need for in person engagement routinely with stakeholders and with FPWA staff, the Assistant Director of Development is a NYC-based position. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
