    About the Role

    The Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo), an initiative of SAFE, seeks a strategic and driven Senior Associate to support its mission to modernize transportation systems policy for the 21st century. This role offers the opportunity to shape forward-looking policy solutions that enhance economic competitiveness, national security, and mobility innovation.

    ReMo advances system-level change by convening diverse stakeholders, conducting rigorous research, and leading public education campaigns focused on emerging transportation technologies. As part of SAFE—a nonpartisan organization dedicated to strengthening U.S. energy and transportation resilience—the Senior Associate will contribute to high-impact projects at the intersection of supply chains, automation, connectivity, sustainability, and digital infrastructure.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Senior Associate supports the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility (ReMo) through research, policy development, and strategic communications. This role focuses on key areas within the evolving mobility landscape, including secure and trusted transportation supply chains, digitalization, AI and connectivity, autonomous and advanced mobility technologies, mobility data and analytics, and sustainable transportation. The Senior Associate also contributes to ReMo’s external communications and advocacy efforts, helping to advance policies that align with SAFE’s mission to advance energy and transportation policies that strengthen U.S. national security and economic competitiveness.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Research and Analysis
      • Conduct research and data analysis on key mobility-related topics.
      • Draft, edit, and contribute to ReMo policy publications, reports, memos, and other written materials.
      • Monitor trends and developments in transportation, technology, and policy.
    2. Policy Development
      • Support the creation of policy recommendations that promote advanced mobility solutions aimed at improving access, efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
      • Ensure alignment with SAFE/ReMo’s mission to enhance U.S. economic and national security.
    3. External Communications
      • Contribute to the development of external-facing materials including presentations, talking points, op-eds, and articles.
      • Support efforts to elevate ReMo’s public profile, enhance brand visibility, and assist in business development and fundraising.
    4. Internal Knowledge Sharing
      • Provide policy insights and updates to internal teams to support cross-organizational alignment and collaboration.
    5. Administrative Support
      • Assist with scheduling, notetaking, preparation for partner meetings, and sharing of relevant policy and industry news.
      • Support logistics for events and external engagements.
    6. Organizational Representation
      • Represent SAFE/ReMo at external meetings, conferences, and events to promote the organization’s work and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders.

    PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in transportation, technology policy, or a related field.
      • 2–5 years of professional experience conducting policy research, analysis, and writing in transportation or emerging mobility systems.
      • Genuine interest in and alignment with the mission of SAFE and the Coalition for Reimagined Mobility.
      • 1–3 years of direct experience with regulatory processes, including drafting or responding to rulemakings within a government agency.
      • Strong understanding of emerging mobility issues, including supply chains, connectivity, autonomy, and sustainability.
      • Proven ability to write articles, reports, or op-eds targeted at policy audiences.
      • Experience engaging with policymakers, including government officials, military personnel, and industry leaders.
      • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with an ability to craft clear, compelling narratives.
      • Demonstrated research abilities, including use of diverse sources and databases.
      • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
      • High level of computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
      • Ability to balance collaborative teamwork with independent initiative and productivity.

    SALARY/BENEFITS

    The opportunity garners a competitive salary between $70,000-$90,000, commensurate with experience, and a full benefits package. SAFE provides a generous health benefits package covering up to 100% of premiums for employees and their families, 401K with 3% employer contribution and life insurance, as well as other benefits to be detailed in the offer. The individual will be based in the greater Washington, D.C. area. SAFE staff report to the office at least 4 days per week with the ability to do remote work as available and approved.
