    Location:

    The daily place of work for this position is the ROMP Guatemala clinic in Zone 15 of Guatemala City, Guatemala. This position will require frequent travel within Guatemala and occasional travel to the United States and Ecuador throughout the year.

    Time:

    The CDG is expected to work a standard 44-hour week, although some overtime will be necessary to meet deadlines or to carry out special activities.

    Background:

    Millions of people worldwide are left immobile by an amputation because they don’t have access to prosthetic care. ROMP’s mission is to ensure access to high-quality prosthetic care for underserved people, improving their mobility and independence. ROMP operates fully-integrated prosthetics clinics in Guatemala and Ecuador, using 95% recycled components. ROMP also provides community-based rehabilitation services to its most vulnerable patients. ROMP is a Global organization with branches in Guatemala and Ecuador. The entire organization follows a single, Global strategy and is led by a single, Global Executive Director.

    Purpose:

    The purpose of this role is to enable ROMP to achieve its strategy in Guatemala and Globally.

    Specifically, the Country Director Guatemala (CDG) is responsible for:

    1. Managing the Guatemala branch of the Global organization in achieving ROMP’s strategy on a country level, and
    2. Collaborating with the Programs, Development, Administrative, and Ecuador Departments in achieving ROMP’s strategy on a global level.

    Reporting:

    The CDG reports directly to the Executive Director (ED).

    The CDG is a member of the Global Executive Team, and works closely with its members: the Chief Program Officer (CPO), the Development Director (DD), the Administrative Director (AD), and the Country Director Ecuador (CDE).

    Responsibilities:

    Areas of responsibility for the CDG include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Team leadership: Lead the branch staff. Specifically: empower and support branch staff in their roles, drive communication and collaboration between branch staff, track and coach branch staff performance, address emergent branch staff problems and opportunities, ensure branch compliance with Global human resources standards, conduct periodic branch and global human resource planning with the ED and AD, and other activities assigned by the ED. This area will include significant collaboration with the ED and the AD.
    • Program oversight: Oversee the branch programs, including but not limited to the Permanent Clinic, Mobile Clinic, Community-Based Rehabilitation Program, and Volunteer Programs. Specifically: empower and support branch program managers, drive continual improvement in branch programs, address emergent branch program problems and opportunities, ensure branch compliance with Global program standards, conduct periodic branch and global program planning with the ED and CPO, and other activities assigned by the ED. This area will include significant collaboration with the ED and the CPO.
    • Financial activities: Manage the branch budget. Specifically: interface with the branch accounting firm, interface with the branch banks, ensure timely payment of branch staff and providers, track and adjust branch expenses and incomes, ensure branch compliance with Global financial standards, ensure branch compliance with country laws, conduct annual branch and global audits, conduct annual branch and global budgeting with the ED and AD, and other activities assigned by the ED. This area will include significant collaboration with the ED and the AD.
    • Administrative activities: Administer the branch. Specifically: ensure the security of the branch installations and equipment, ensure branch documentation transparency, ensure branch compliance with Global administrative standards, ensure branch compliance with country laws and regulations, conduct periodic branch and global administrative planning with the ED and AD. This area will include significant collaboration with the ED and the AD.
    • Development activities: Develop resources in-country and globally. Specifically: cultivate in-country donors, coordinate in-country corporate partnerships, conduct in-country events, collaborate on multi-country development activities, ensure branch compliance with Global development standards, conduct periodic branch and global development planning with the ED and DD, and other activities assigned by the ED. This area will include significant collaboration with the ED and the DD.
    • Communications activities: Communicate about the branch, via social and news media. Specifically: interface with the branch social media manager, coordinate branch social media posts, represent ROMP via in-country interviews, collaborate on multi-country communication activities, ensure branch compliance with Global communication standards, conduct periodic branch and global communication planning with the ED and DD, and other activities assigned by the ED. This area will include significant collaboration with the ED and the DD.
    • Global collaboration: Connect the branch with the rest of the Global organization, and vice versa. Ensure branch compliance with all Global standards, communicate Global updates to the branch, respond quickly and completely to requests for information/input from other branches/departments, share resources with other branches/departments, collaborate effectively on all global-level programs, development, and administrative initiatives, and other activities assigned by the ED.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Candidates must currently reside in Guatemala and be legally authorized to work in the country. ROMP does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
    • Strong familiarity with the Guatemalan context and local networks preferred.
    • Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written; willingness to travel frequently within Guatemala and to the United States, Ecuador, and beyond.
    • Willingness to be based in Guatemala City; willingness to work full-time (40 hours/week) as an independent contractor, including evenings and weekends as needed.
    • High level of empathy for others, including beneficiaries, staff, volunteers, etc; high level of cultural competence for working with people from North, Central, and South America.
    • Excellent ability to empower subordinates through clarity and trust; excellent ability to lead by example and through service; excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Excellent ability to place equal importance on global collaboration and local leadership; excellent ability to adjust plans to changing circumstances; mission-before-self mindset.
    • Minimum of 10 years experience leading progressively larger teams; Master’s degree in health, business, or a related field; experience in physical rehabilitation is a major plus.
    • Excellent ability to quickly learn new topics and platforms.

    Start Date:

    No sooner than 1 April 2026, no later than 30 June 2026.

    Duration:

    Permanent.

    Salary:

    $40,000 annually
