    Wage: $25–$30/hour, commensurate with experience

    About SAGE

SAGE is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that inspires people over 50 to “give forward” — with their time, money, and voice — so that younger and future generations can thrive. We promote generational equity, the idea that each generation has a responsibility to improve the quality of life for the next. We also work across generations because we need each other and the future needs all the advocates it can get.

Our work focuses on three key areas: education, the environment, and the economy. Through awareness campaigns, training, and partnerships, our goal is to inspire over 1,000 people annually in taking meaningful action in their communities. We believe in the power of collective advocacy and intergenerational collaboration to build a better future.

Among our initiatives, we sponsor teams of volunteers and organizations who work together toward a common cause. Vision 2030 is one of our teams and it is described further below.

    About Vision 2030

Empowering Students to Learn About Climate Solutions

Vision 2030 is a collaborative initiative that brings together students, educators, volunteers, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies to educate students in Portland and Multnomah County about our region’s climate goal and emerging solutions and jobs. Each year, we aim to equip over 2,000 students with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to understand local solutions and explore green career pathways.

Since launching in 2019, Vision 2030 has developed locally relevant lessons, service-learning opportunities, and workforce education focused on climate solutions. We currently offer two core programs for schools:

      • The Keystone Lesson on Climate Solutions: A classroom-based experience that introduces students to practical, local strategies for reducing emissions.
      • Climate Solutions Fairs: School-wide events featuring interactive exhibits and hands-on activities that showcase climate-friendly technologies and careers.

These programs are co-created with input from students, teachers, and community members to ensure they are engaging, inclusive, and impactful. To date, Vision 2030 has partnered with 19 schools and after-school programs, directly engaging 8,950 students in climate education.

    Position Overview

SAGE is seeking a passionate and organized Vision 2030 Coordinator. The Vision 2030 Coordinator plays a vital role in bringing climate education to middle school students across Portland and Multnomah County. This position focuses on organizing and facilitating impactful learning experiences through three core areas of work:

    Classroom Engagement

Collaborate with teachers to schedule and deliver the Keystone Lesson on Climate Solutions in classrooms. The coordinator will also facilitate the lesson from time-to-time, ensuring it is engaging, informative, and aligned with Vision 2030’s goals.

    School-Wide Events

In addition to these responsibilities, the coordinator will manage meetings with Vision 2030’s core team. These meetings serve to track progress, identify new opportunities, and address challenges collaboratively.
