Position Overview
The Fellow supports the Foundation’s impact-oriented program by taking on a variety of projects that span the range of workstreams, including grantmaking, learning and evaluation, and operational initiatives. The Pisces Foundation implements grantmaking and other supportive program activities through an integrated program team that is capable of collaboration across its two focus areas of environmental and San Francisco grantmaking. In the context of a multi-focal strategy, the Fellow position will gain a broad range of experience in philanthropy while making a significant contribution to the Foundation’s local and environmental impact.
Projects may include supporting the development and launch of philanthropic initiatives, preparing recommendations and approvals for leadership team and board meetings, supporting database architecture for grantmaking expansion, and more. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in philanthropy, communications, and nonprofit strategy, while working closely with senior staff and leaders in the field.
The position will work in our San Francisco office. This is a limited-term two-year position. The Fellow is supervised by the Program Director and works across the Foundation in a matrix-management structure, meaning that the Fellow works with and reports to other staff members to execute various projects.

Location and Schedule
To promote collaboration and a dynamic work experience, the Pisces Foundation operates with a hybrid schedule, working out of the Foundation offices in downtown San Francisco, currently three days a week. Candidates must live in the San Francisco Bay Area or be willing to relocate and must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation and Benefits
Pisces Foundation offers an excellent compensation package including platinum-level health, dental, and vision insurance; a Flexible Spending Account; life insurance; bereavement leave; paid time off; and holidays.
The starting salary for this role is $77,000 – $95,000 depending on skills and experience. Our salaries are competitive, reflect our geographic location and field, and are commensurate with experience. Pisces Foundation participates in multiple compensation surveys for grantmaking organizations and conducts an annual review of market-based salary trends.
