The Team
The GitLab Foundation is a highly collaborative, fully remote team driven by curiosity, results-orientation, and a commitment to continuous learning. Our team brings together diverse experiences across philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, the private sector, and research institutions—each perspective helping us approach our work with depth, empathy, and strategic insight. Our culture is grounded in our CREDIT values and shaped by respect, humility, open debate, and a strong bias for action. We trust one another to lead with integrity, operate with transparency, and lean into challenges with a shared sense of purpose. Above all, we are united by a deep commitment to achieving meaningful, measurable change in the lives of those we serve.
About this Role
The GitLab Foundation seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial Director, Impact Advisory Services to lead and deliver a growing consulting and impact modeling practice that supports philanthropic and investor clients in achieving measurable social and economic outcomes.
Working in close collaboration with the Impact Modeling & Measurement (IMM) team, the Director will serve as the Foundation’s lead and sole consultant, directly engaging with clients to design and deliver high-quality advisory services. This includes building ROI and SROI models, co-developing frameworks, advancing data analytics capabilities (including AI-enabled tools), and translating IMM’s modeling expertise into client-facing strategy and decision-making.
Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Impact Officer (CIO), the Director will shape and execute the Foundation’s advisory strategy, managing all aspects of client delivery, service design, and business development. Together, they will build a high-impact advisory practice that extends the Foundation’s influence and thought leadership across the philanthropic sector. While the CIO provides strategic direction and supports business development, the Director will own execution and delivery—from scoping and client engagement through final presentation and relationship management.
The ideal candidate brings deep consulting experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution. They thrive in ambiguity, are energized by building something new, and embody the Foundation’s CREDIT values in their leadership and client engagement approach.
