    Descripción

PennPAC seeks a fractional Director of Development to lead and expand our fundraising efforts among individual prospects. The primary focus of this role will be on identifying, cultivating and soliciting major donors; other responsibilities include developing and overseeing programs and donor-focused events, fundraising communications and other strategic philanthropic initiatives. This role will work closely with PennPAC’s Executive Director, staff, Boards, Development Committee and other key volunteer leaders.

    About PennPAC

PennPAC (Pro Bono Alumni Consulting) works with nonprofit organizations to help solve their business challenges through the engagement of Penn alumni who serve as pro bono consultants.

Headquartered in New York City, PennPAC engages Penn alumni across the U.S. and runs consulting engagements for organizations based in NYC, Philadelphia, the Bay Area and virtual engagements to support nonprofits across the country.

Since our launch in 2011, PennPAC has delivered $13 million worth of pro bono consulting to 300+ nonprofits, drawing on a corps of 1,100+ alumni volunteers. Our lean staff team works in close partnership with volunteer leaders, creating a highly efficient and collaborative model.

    About the Position

PennPAC is at an exciting moment: demand is high for our services from both alumni volunteers and nonprofits. To build on our recent success, we’re looking to add a Director of Development to our 3-person professional staff. This person will play a pivotal role in strengthening PennPAC’s financial sustainability and donor engagement strategy. Reporting to the Executive Director, they will lead our development effort, focusing on major donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship while also overseeing fundraising communications and outreach, and supporting broader development initiatives.

This position is ideal for a self-starter who excels at relationship-building, communicates with clarity and warmth, and enjoys collaborating with a wide range of highly motivated and successful stakeholders including staff, board members, advisory board members, and volunteers.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Major Donor Engagement

    • Develop and manage a portfolio of major donors (4-6 figure giving capability) and prospects, primarily drawn from PennPAC’s volunteer and alumni community
    • Work with the Executive Director, Development Chair and other key volunteers to develop a menu of giving opportunities that reflect the organization’s most pressing needs
    • Lead donor cultivation and solicitation efforts, including one-on-one outreach, meetings, proposals and follow-up
    • Lead and manage the Development Committee and support its donor engagement efforts
    • Partner with the Executive Director and Board leadership to advance donor strategy and engagement

    Collaboration with Organizational Leadership

    • Work closely with the Executive Director, Boards, and Development Committee to advance fundraising priorities
    • Provide training, materials, and talking points to support board members in their ambassador and fundraising roles

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Manage PennPAC’s annual fundraising calendar, including year-end campaigns, matching challenges, and donor recognition efforts
    • Support the planning and execution of donor-facing events and cultivation opportunities
    • Track progress toward fundraising goals and maintain accurate donor records
    • Oversee the strategy and execution of fundraising communications, including proposals, appeals, campaigns, updates, and stewardship messages
    • Partner with staff and volunteer leaders to align messaging across newsletters, events, and donor materials; develop compelling content that highlights PennPAC’s impact and inspires giving

    Qualifications

A successful candidate will have many of the following qualities:

    • Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising and donor stewardship.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft clear, compelling messages.
    • Exceptional relationship-building skills and comfort engaging highly successful donors, board members, and volunteers.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects with excellent follow-through and attention to detail.
    • Strategic thinker with a positive attitude, creativity, and problem-solving ability.
    • Comfort with technology, including databases and CRM systems (Salesforce experience a plus).
    • Nonprofit sector experience in roles involving philanthropy, fundraising, communications, and/or donor engagement.
    • Affiliation with University of Pennsylvania a plus
    • 5-10+ years of relevant experience.

    Compensation, Hours & Location

This is a part-time/fractional role requiring approximately 25 hours per week (note: actual hours will vary week to week). Most work can be done remotely, although prospect and donor development activity will include in-person meetings and events, primarily in New York City.

Compensation will be paid by monthly retainer; rate will be commensurate with experience.
