    Organizational Overview:

Silver Lining Mentoring (SLM) empowers youth in foster care to thrive through committed mentoring relationships and the development of essential life-skills. For over 20 years, SLM has matched young people in the child welfare system with highly committed adult volunteer mentors. The match relationship is supported by in-depth training and ongoing personalized match support from clinically-informed staff. Most youth participants are preparing to age out of the child welfare system and Silver Lining mentors offer both companionship and guidance in navigating critical life skills.

SLM offers four core services to young people impacted by the child welfare system. This includes Community Based Mentoring, which provides one-to-one volunteer mentorships to youth ages 7+; Learn & Earn, which provides life skills development and leadership opportunities to help young adults 16+ navigate their independent living goals via a life skills curriculum accompanied by a 1:1 volunteer mentorship, and E-Mentoring our newest program which uses a virtual platform for mentors and mentees to connect virtually to help youth to access the tools they need to build a strong relationship, work on goals, and grow social networks. SLM’s fourth core service is offered through the Silver Lining Institute, the organization’s national initiative to expand access to mentoring relationships for youth impacted by foster care.

    Position:

The Enrollment Coordinator (EC) is a new position on SLM’s regional programming team designed to drive progress towards increasing the total number of youth served in strong mentoring match relationships. The EC will leverage strong administrative, organizational, and collaboration skills, alongside knowledge of human services best practices and Silver Lining Mentoring’s policies, to help cultivate long-term mentor/mentee relationships. This position will initially report to the Director of Regional Programs and work closely with our Volunteer Manager and Enrollment Specialist.

The EC's primary responsibility is to lead and drive dual enrollment efforts, ensuring equity, quality, and efficiency in both youth and volunteer intake. The EC will strategize and implement best practices in managing Community-Based youth enrollment processes, maintain critical relationships with referral partners (especially DCF), and manage administrative aspects of the volunteer management pipeline. This position partners extensively with the Volunteer and Program Managers to balance the needs of programs and organizational goals. The initial six months will focus heavily on maintaining the continuity of our Youth Enrollment process, particularly managing DCF-funded youth, before balancing out to an equal split between the two enrollment areas. The position will require local travel and attendance at events/activities on occasional evenings and/or weekends.

    Responsibilities:

Youth Recruitment & Referral Management (45%)

    • Collaborate with the Enrollment Specialist, Program Managers and Director of Regional Programs to identify new youth referral sources while enhancing existing partnerships
    • Explore and take the lead on increasing youth referrals by identifying new referral sources/partnerships
      • Facilitate a range of informational sessions for youth referral sources, both in-person and virtually as appropriate. Cultivate leads for new referral opportunities through emails, social media posts, phone calls and in-person events.
      • Conduct outreach to DCF offices and local partner agencies to obtain mentee referrals both within and outside of the Greater Boston area. Maintain conversations with key referral stakeholders to increase incoming referrals, promote SLM services, and identify areas of improvement.
    • Participate in Enrollment Team meetings to help maintain the balance of SLM’s mentee and mentor pipelines needs
    • Serve as liaison to the Department of Children and Families, including ongoing support and stabilization meetings, weekly email updates, review meetings, and other opportunities as requested
    • Field and screen referral inquiries and incoming applications for program eligibility
    • Process mentee applications with youth and provider teams using FormAssembly, Salesforce, and DocuSign platforms
    • Assist the Senior Director of Administration and Chief Operating Officer in managing contracts and internal data relative to the Department of Children and Families, including the timely processing of payment and funding documentation

    Volunteer Enrollment & Engagement (45%)

    • Process volunteer mentor applications using FormAssembly, Salesforce, and DocuSign platforms
    • Schedule mentor candidate interviews and live information sessions
    • Conduct thorough volunteer interviews and co-lead mentor training with program staff
    • Lead the collection, review and storage of candidate information from interview through post-training process to prepare mentors for matching
    • Support regional and national program initiatives that directly engage mentors candidates (e.g., group events & workshops), and/or those that increase awareness about youth in care

    Other Responsibilities (10%):

    • Actively engage in SLM’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts such as attending all staff trainings, providing and receiving feedback, and embracing accountability
    • Collaborate closely with other SLM staff to build knowledge/awareness of SLM’s best practices
    • Collaborate with management and leadership teams to execute Silver Lining’s strategic plan, achieve organizational goals, and with development staff to produce and report on grants, enrollment trends and outcomes
    • Document all data entry via Salesforce platform

    Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate will be a values-led, adaptable individual interested in supporting youth impacted by foster care. Data shows that BIPOC and women often rule themselves out from job opportunities when they don’t feel they fit 100% of the criteria listed in a job description. If that sounds like you, don’t rule yourself out.
