ABOUT DKMS
DKMS is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders by creating awareness, recruiting stem cell donors to provide a second chance at life, raising funds to match donor registrations costs, and supporting the improvement of blood cancer therapies by our own research.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Marketing & Communications Department leads DKMS US’s public-facing strategy to shift public perception and build understanding of its vital work in giving people with blood cancers and disorders a second chance at life. The team works to strengthen DKMS’s brand visibility, inspire potential donors, and encourage support through fundraising, volunteering and advocacy.
This role is responsible for creating and overseeing the execution for our digital and social strategy. It engages with existing and potential donors through ongoing, relevant communications to keep them informed and motivated. The team also provides internal support for other departments to help amplify initiatives and outreach.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Develop and implement the annual US digital marketing strategy across channels including website, social media, email communications, transactional messaging, CPC campaigns, SEO and SEM.
- Create engaging multimedia content for web, blog and social platforms (organic and paid), including, but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Manage budgets and allocate spending for digital campaigns with sign-off from the Head of Marketing & Communications.
- Analyze and report on performance across digital platforms and specific campaigns using tools like Meta Insights and Piwik Pro.
- Lead influencer engagement aligned with DKMS US’s target audiences.
- Oversee development and optimization of the US website, ensuring functionality, user experience and conversion performance are maintained and improved.
- Collaborate with departments across DKMS to gather digital requirements and prioritize developments.
- Manage external SEO/SEM agency relationships to maximize digital visibility and campaign effectiveness together with the Digital Marketing Officers.
- Define and execute newsletter and email strategies, including segmentation, performance analysis and improvements.
- Ensure compliance with federal and healthcare regulations.
- Curate digital resources including video, infographics and banners, working with freelancers and agencies.
- Keep abreast of digital marketing innovations and share insights with the team.
- Support annual planning and cross-functional project management
- Support the whole team in terms of written content (copy writing)
- Attend a minimum of one donor recruitment drive per quarter.
- Maintain a strong understanding of DKMS’s mission and brand.
- Comply with all organizational policies and standards.
- Participate in performance reviews, team meetings, and training sessions.
- Uphold the organization’s commitment to equity and anti-discriminatory practice.
- Fulfil any other duties as directed by the Head of Marketing & Communications.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/knowledge/education
- Degree-qualified in marketing, communications, or a related field; at least 3 years of experience in digital marketing with demonstrable success in achieving ambitious targets.
- Knowledge of social strategy/content and digital marketing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- CRM system experience; Salesforce and Mailing Work desirable.
- Professional use of social media tools and management platforms.
- Analytical proficiency, including use of Piwik Pro or Google Analytics.
- Proven success with SEO/PPC and Google Ads campaign development.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize workload.
- Attending one stem collection per year.
Desirable, but not essential:
- Advanced Photoshop and video editing capabilities.
- CMS experience (preferably Kentico) with basic HTML or coding knowledge.
- Experience collaborating with external suppliers for campaign delivery.

Work outside of core hours
Please note, this role may involve some national and international travel for the purposes of attending for training and external meetings, and as part of DKMS group-wide activities. Some evening and weekend work is required for similar reasons, for which notice and time off in lieu may be available.
