    Position Title: CHO-EC Project Manager

    Reports to: Beth Sabilia, Director, Center for Housing Opportunity- Eastern CT

    Location: Hybrid – Eastern Connecticut-based

    Status: Full-Time, Exempt

    Salary Range: $68,000 - $80,000/year, plus benefits

    The Housing Collective (HC) is seeking a Project Manager to support the work of the Center for Housing Opportunity (CHO-EC) in Eastern Connecticut. The Center for Housing Opportunity Eastern CT is a collaboration between the Housing Collective, LISC Connecticut, Partnership for Strong Communities, community foundations, and academic and regional partners working together to collectively identify and build upon community driven and data informed solutions to preserve, protect and produce safe and affordable housing for all.

    The Project Manager will collaborate with an interdisciplinary staff of collective impact practitioners, affordable housing and homelessness experts, public policy experts, and housing advocates to advance the CHO-EC’s work in Eastern CT. This is a salaried, full time position with benefits. This position will report directly to the CHO-EC Director.

    We are looking for individuals who share our passion for fostering equitable access to affordable housing. Applicants will ideally have familiarity with Eastern Connecticut, particularly Windham and Tolland Counties, and with housing, policy, and neighborhood planning issues.

    Position Overview

    Working with HC’s talented Center for Housing Opportunity Eastern CT staff, the Project Manager will play a key role in leading conversations, advocacy, and training to support the preservation of existing affordable housing and the production of additional housing options in communities throughout Eastern CT. The Project Manager will also work with the CHO-EC Director to advance other key CHO-EC initiatives, including identifying and aligning resources to support regional housing solutions, building and maintaining a strong coalition of regional partners, facilitating the production of research and data to inform policy and practice decision making, and centering equity and resident voice in local, regional, and statewide housing advocacy efforts.

    Responsibilities

    The Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the CHO-EC Director in achieving CHO-EC’s short term and long term goals and building and maintaining CHO-EC’s identity as the thought leader and expert on housing practice and policy in Eastern CT, including -

    • Building widespread support for the preservation of safe, affordable housing and increasing housing options in smaller towns throughout eastern Connecticut.
    • Helping shape and implement CHO-EC’s advocacy strategies
    • Managing the regional CHO-EC coalition, assisting with the facilitation of coalition meetings and events
    • Engaging with partner organizations, community, business, civic, and other constituencies, including resident leaders with lived experience of housing instability
    • Effectively communicating CHO-EC’s mission and objectives to elected government officials and staff, cross-sector partners, housing practitioners, community leaders, and residents
    • Drafting materials such as meeting agendas, meeting presentation decks, follow up emails, talking points, partner briefs, letters of support, public comments, white papers, etc.
    • Representing CHO-EC and speaking at public hearings and other events
    • Supporting the CHO-EC Director with administrative tasks as assigned

    Qualifications

    Candidates should have at least two years of program/campaign, issue advocacy, public policy and/or communications experience. Knowledge of CHO-EC issues including affordable housing, public policy and urban planning are a plus. Other specific requirements include:

    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Strong project management skills
    • Ability to build and manage coalitions
    • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multidisciplinary team, as well as with a diverse set of external partners
    • Ability to multitask and work well under deadlines
    • Experience with Google Suite
    • Bachelor’s Degree required

    The following skills are also desired, but not required:

    • Understanding of Collective Impact
    • Knowledge of Connecticut politics and housing policy issues and an understanding of how to advance key policy priorities
