    The Organization

    Legal Assistance for Seniors (LAS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit approaching its 50th year serving Alameda County residents who are 60 years of age and older. Through its Legal Services Program, LAS provides legal advice and information, representation in court and administrative hearings, referrals to other community resources, and community education and training in areas such as prevention of elder abuse, consumer law, public benefits, housing, guardianships, naturalization, and health law. Through our Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), LAS provides individual counseling and community education to Medicare beneficiaries on topics of Medicare enrollment and coverage, supplemental coverage including Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plans, low-income assistance programs, and long-term care insurance.

    The Role

    Reporting to the Associate Director, the Grants & Contracts Coordinator will be responsible for grants and contracts reporting, data management, and performance metric tracking in our legal case management system and HICAP databases. They will also maintain the grants and contracts calendar. There is a heavy data management emphasis in this role, with responsibilities spanning from program data input design and database maintenance to data extraction and analysis. This position plays an integral role in ensuring end-to-end tracking of grants and contracts from proposal to renewal and final reporting.

    Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    1. Grants management and reporting
      1. Provides data for reports to funders and management on a monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual basis
      2. Implements modifications to the legal case management system as required by evolving reporting needs
      3. Responsible for ongoing quality assurance and quality control as it relates to program databases
      4. Track application and reporting deadlines, as well as the status of applications and contracts
      5. Maintain an organized system of records for grants, contracts, and related documents on the agency server
    2. Database management
      1. Works closely with department and program leadership to design and develop custom reports for quality assurance and program and performance management
      2. Conducts ongoing quality assurance and quality control activities as it relates to internal and external databases
      3. Works with department leadership to implement revisions to the client data management system as required by evolving programmatic or reporting needs
      4. Responsible for managing access to and organization of reports within client data management system
      5. Responds to additional data requests from throughout the agency
      6. Develops additional reporting tools using Excel
      7. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new features and functionalities in the software

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Data management and data analysis experience
    • Detail-oriented and organized, with strong time-management skills
    • Intermediate to advanced proficiency Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel) or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
    • Commitment to serving underserved communities; sensitivity towards older adults and persons with disabilities

    Preferred:

    • BA/BS degree
    • Project management experience
    • Experience with LegalServer

    Compensación

    • 35-hour work week
    • Four weeks of vacation, accrues from first day, available for use after 90 days
    • Two weeks of sick leave per year
    • Three personal days per year, available immediately
