Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence.

Each year, 40,000 people in the U.S. die from gun violence. We can change that. No organization has a more comprehensive and systematic approach to ending America’s gun violence epidemic. They say it can't be done. But we know Americans can do anything. Even end this epidemic of gun violence. For we are more powerful than any problem when we work as one. Now is the time to unite people, from coast to coast, young and old, liberal and conservative, fed up and fired up, and free our country from what is killing us. It's in our hands.

    Job Summary:

The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, the nation's leading gun violence prevention organization, has an exciting opening for a Manager of Events. Joining a well-established development team, this individual will manage and execute two major events (with consultant support as needed) and several small house party-style events supporting ambitious revenue goals as a key partner of the development team. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, strategic thinker who effectively sets priorities and solves problems while building and maintaining productive relationships. This candidate also has experience planning and executing both small and large events to budget.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Events Leadership & Strategy

    • Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of a portfolio of branded, mission-focused events that deepen engagement with donors, volunteers and prospects.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to evolve and improve the event strategy using data, trends and organizational priorities.
    • Anticipate needs, risks, and opportunities—developing solutions before challenges arise—and proactively communicate updates, risks, and opportunities to leadership and key partners.
    • Serve as a central point of accountability, driving alignment and execution across internal teams, leadership, board members, and external partners by managing effectively up, down, and across the organization to keep moving toward shared goals.
    • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
    • Support leadership (President, Chief Development Officer, Major Gift Officers) at events as needed. Travel no more than 5%.

    Signature Events (7-Figure Revenue Responsibility)

    • Lead end-to-end strategy and execution for two 7-figure signature events in partnership with external consultants.
    • Drive development of compelling, mission-forward programming and storytelling that elevates the attendee experience and inspires giving.
    • Take full ownership of revenue and expense budgets, proactively identifying gaps and implementing strategies to meet or exceed goals.
    • Mobilize and coordinate internal teams, board members, event chairs, host committees, and key stakeholders to drive sponsorships, ticket sales, and engagement.
    • Act as a decision-maker and problem-solver, ensuring seamless execution and high-impact outcomes.

    Small Events

    • Partner with donors and stakeholders to conceptualize and execute intimate, high-impact cultivation and fundraising events.
    • Collaborate with the team to shape event goals, strategy, and experience design
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to hosts, guiding them through planning, outreach, and execution to maximize success.
    • Ensure alignment with broader development strategy and identify opportunities to deepen relationships and grow revenue.

    Qualifications:

    • 2-4 years of experience managing events, preferably in fundraising or nonprofit environments.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage volunteers, board, and vendors.
    • Strong ability to manage up, down, and across—keeping teams aligned, informed, and accountable.
    • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to build trust and drive action.
    • Highly proactive self-starter who identifies what needs to be done and takes initiative with an eye on being ahead of the events curve. For example, helping identify and secure event leadership for future years.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously with a keen eye for detail.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly and adapt in fast-paced event environments.
    • Experience developing and managing budgets, negotiating with vendors, and driving revenue goals.
    • Data-driven mindset with the ability to use insights to inform strategy and decision-making.
    • Collaborative team player who can lead when needed and support when appropriate.
    • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
    • Ability to work in-person two days per week in our Washington, D.C. office.

The salary range for this position is $64,000 - $90,000 annually, with the exact salary depending on experience. Competitive benefits include employer-funded health, dental, and vision insurance; flexible spending accounts; pre-tax parking and transit accounts; 403(B) plan with discretionary employer match; Employer-paid basic life and AD&D coverage; reimbursement for cell phone use; Headspace subscription; 16 weeks paid parental leave; unlimited PTO plus paid week closure at the end of the calendar year; and eleven paid federal holidays.
