    POSITION OVERVIEW

The Development Director plays a key role in supporting revenue growth, enhancing visibility, and strengthening donor engagement efforts for the organization. This includes overseeing individual giving, corporate partnerships, grant development and reporting, special events, and public-facing communications. The person in this role will help guide strategy and implementation in collaboration with a small team of committed colleagues and volunteers.

This high-accountability role is well-suited for someone who is goal-driven, values collaboration, and thrives in a mission-focused environment. disABILITYsa is a small, ambitious organization with a culture of high expectations and a deep commitment to service. Candidates should be prepared for hands-on work, shared problem-solving, and accountability for both the planning and execution of fundraising and communications initiatives.

Success in this role depends on thoughtful work, attention to detail, and a commitment to process. The Development Director must demonstrate precision, producing consistent and high-quality results in all areas of responsibility. Whether managing donor correspondence, preparing grant materials, or coordinating event logistics, the ability to check and double-check work for accuracy and professionalism is essential.

Requirements for this role are unambiguous. It is very clear what needs to be done and what success looks like ensuring the Development Director has a strong framework to operate within, allowing focus on execution and refinement.

The pace of work is steady, allowing for focus and advance planning. Tasks tend to be familiar and consistent, with occasional changes introduced with ample preparation time. This role is well-suited for individuals who prefer a predictable work rhythm, value order and completeness, and take pride in producing polished, error-free deliverables over time. It is generally feasible to plan large blocks of work ahead of time. When work duties do change, there is ample time to prepare.

While much of the work is accomplished individually, the Development Director is expected to collaborate respectfully and professionally with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners. The role calls for someone who is helpful, conscientious, and service-oriented—focused on achieving goals through teamwork and follow-through rather than competition or urgency.
