    Position Overview

    NEW Pride Agenda (NPA) is looking for our next Statewide Policy & Advocacy Manager, who will

    lead NPA's statewide legislative advocacy, working directly with legislators, lobbyists, coalition

    partners, and community stakeholders. It will be important that the manager also has

    awareness and is attentive to the national landscape as it relates to LGBTQ+ rights.

    Reporting to the Executive Director and working across departments (organizing,

    communications, programs), this role ensures that state-level advocacy efforts are strategic,

    coordinated, and community-informed. The manager will play a key role in shaping and

    advancing laws and policies that protect and uplift LGBTQ+ New Yorkers. With a deep

    understanding of the legislative process, strong community engagement skills, and the ability to

    work collaboratively, this position will help ensure that New York remains a leader of LGBTQ+

    equity and inclusion.

    Here's What You'll Do

    • Policy Strategy & Legislative Work:Track, analyze, and monitor bills and regulations at

    the state and local levels that impact LGBTQ+ rights; Craft and review policy documents;

    Develop strategic recommendations

    • Advocacy & Coalition Building: Build and sustain relationships with state legislators and

    policymakers, coalition partners, community partners, and grassroots networks; Lead

    and coordinate coalition efforts; Represent the organization in public forums, legislative

    hearings, and media engagements

    • Communications & Public Engagement: Produce public-facing content; Develop and

    issue rapid-response messaging, especially during active legislative sessions or crises;

    Lead advocacy campaigns, collaborate with communications partners; sustain media

    relationships.

    • Research, Analysis, and Resource Development:Conduct research on policy trends,

    legislative developments, and data affecting LGBTQ+ communities; Provide trainings,

    workshops, and support materials to stakeholders; Develop toolkits, advocacy guides, or

    policy guides to support change-making

    • Administrative & Team Collaboration:Help design and executive statewide advocacy

    strategy; Contribute to fundraising efforts and strategy; Manage interns or junior staff;

    Engage with programs, operations, and development teams

    Thriving In This Role

    The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:

    • Demonstrated commitment to LGBTQ+ rights, racial equity, and social justice
    • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in policy-based advocacy, government relations, or

    related field

    • Strong understanding of the New York State legislative process and political landscape
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and policy

    writing

    • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
    • Comfort in high-paced environments and readiness to adapt when priorities shift
    • Ability to travel within New York State and work some evenings and weekends (valid

    driver's license and reliable vehicle required)

    Position Details

    SUPERVISOR | Executive Director

    SALARY | $65,000-$72,000

    Final compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include

    geographic location, work experience, knowledge, and skill level

    CLASSIFICATION | Exempt, full-time

    LOCATION | Hybrid with some travel; ; Preference for candidates based in Capitol Region,

    Central NY, or Western NY / Finger Lakes Region.
