    Description:

    The Center on Race, Inequality, and the Law at NYU School of Law is seeking a dynamic full time Operations Coordinator to support the Center's general operations and increase the impact of our efforts to advance racial justice. Specifically, we seek a motivated, highly-organized person who is excited to support the Center's efforts to challenge racial inequity across multiple sectors within our society. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering results on assignments and will excel at balancing time-sensitive requests and competing priorities. We seek a clear communicator with a commitment to racial justice and the ability to work well with people of different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. In addition, the ideal candidate will be eager to work closely with a range of stakeholders and individuals, including but not limited to, academics, legal practitioners, community organizers, local activists, and administrative staff across the University.

    Responsibilities:

    The Operations Coordinator will report to the Center’s Faculty Director ("FD"), Executive Director ("ED”), Staff Attorney, and Legal Fellow, and will be responsible for the following:

    • Providing top-notch comprehensive administrative, research, logistical, and marketing support for the Center
    • Carrying out a broad variety of administrative tasks for the Center, including: completing expense reports; composing and preparing (sometimes confidential) correspondence with collaborators, government agencies, or other entities; managing an active calendar of meetings, complex plans and events, travel itineraries, and agendas; assisting with the production and publication of Center reports; assisting with hiring processes; supporting and enhancing the Center's social media and digital presence; and compiling research and needed materials for projects and meetings.
    • Identifying, researching, prioritizing, and following up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the FD and ED, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature
    • Supporting event planning efforts, executing Center events, and staffing events hosted by partner organizations
    • Being an active member of the Center's legal teams, which may include: scheduling legal calls; sending legal mail; scheduling and attending legal visits; assisting with research, drafting advocacy materials, and corresponding with individuals and organizations who can contribute to advocacy efforts

    Requirements:

    • At least 2 years of experience supporting executive staff preferred (ideally in a nonprofit organization)
    • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
    • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, advisory committee members, NYU staff, clients, and external partners
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
    • Proven ability to handle information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of responsiveness
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, social media platforms
    • Flexibility to work outside of standard 9-to-5 hours for the purposes of: staffing events which take place in the early mornings or evenings, traveling across New York state to partake in advocacy events or legal visits
    • Commitment to advancing the Center's mission focused on racial justice and plan for growth

    In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual rate for this position is USD $65,000-$72,000.
