    The National Alliance to End Homelessness (the Alliance) is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization committed to preventing and ending homelessness in the United States. The Alliance uses qualitative and quantitative data and research—including the perspectives of people with lived experience of homelessness— to identify solutions to homelessness; works with Congress and the Administration to support and advance these solutions; and helps communities to implement the solutions. Recognizing the disproportionality of people of color who experience homelessness and the disparities that cause this, it undertakes its work in the context of achieving racial equity.

    What we are looking for:

    The Alliance is seeking a highly organized and collaborative advocacy professional to support and execute field engagement strategies that advance policy solutions to homelessness. This role plays a key part in mobilizing partners, coordinating advocacy activities, and ensuring that field perspectives inform the Alliance’s policy and advocacy work.

    The ideal candidate brings deep experience in grassroots organizing or field strategy, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. This position is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, action-oriented, and motivated to contribute to broader advocacy and policy goals.

    The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing racial equity, housing justice, and the leadership of people with lived experience of homelessness and will be able to apply these principles in their approach to partnership, advocacy, and engagement.

    What you will do:

    The National Field Organizer (Organizer) supports the Alliance’s nationwide field engagement and advocacy efforts by coordinating outreach, managing advocacy activities, and helping mobilize partners in support of the Alliance’s policy priorities.

    Reporting to the Director of Advocacy and Campaign Strategy, the Organizer held develop and leads the execution of field-facing strategies that strengthen advocacy capacity across states and communities and align with the Alliance’s federal advocacy agenda. This role works closely with Policy, Congressional Affairs, and Communications staff to ensure advocacy efforts align with policy priorities and messaging.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Build and Support Field Relationships
      • Build and maintain strong relationships with state and local partners, service providers, advocates, and people with lived experience of homelessness
      • Conduct regular outreach to keep partners informed, engaged, and connected to advocacy opportunities
      • Identify and support emerging advocacy leaders in priority regions, including helping connect them to training and engagement opportunities
      • Represent the Alliance in coalitions, partner spaces, and public forum
    • Coordinate Advocacy Activities and Campaigns
      • Execute advocacy campaigns aligned with the Alliance’s policy priorities and federal advocacy agenda
      • Coordinate logistics, outreach, and participation for Capitol Hill Day and other Advocacy events, taking primary responsibility for execution and follow-up
      • Support partner engagement in advocacy actions tied to the congressional calendar, including sign-on letters, meetings, and digital advocacy campaigns using tools such as email, action alerts and CRM platforms (e.g., EveryAction)
    • Gather and Share Field Insights
      • Gather and synthesize input form partners on emerging issues, challenges, and opportunities across communities and systems
      • Track field trends and communicate key insights to Policy and Communication teams, and adjust outreach and engagement approaches based on emerging needs, risks, and opportunities
      • Support the incorporation of field perspectives into advocacy materials, messaging, and strategy
      • development
    • Develop and Deliver Tools and Trainings
      • Develop and deliver webinars, trainings, briefings that build the field’s knowledge and readiness for advocacy activities
      • Create, update, and maintain advocacy tools, resources, and materials to support field engagement
      • Support communications to stakeholders about advocacy opportunities, policy developments, and campaign priorities
    • Track Engagement and Support Team Coordination
      • Track advocacy engagement and partner activity using CRM tools (e.g., EveryAction) to support outreach, reporting, and continuous improvement
      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of partner engagement and participation across campaigns and events
      • Support internal coordination across teams to ensure advocacy efforts are organized, aligned, and effectively executed
    • General Responsibilities
      • Maintain nonpartisanship at all times and engage stakeholders on a bipartisan basis, consistent with the Alliance’s mission and values
      • Contribute to the planning and execution of Alliance conferences and events, including supporting content development and coordination as needed
      • Support the development and maintenance of advocacy-related content for the Alliance’s website, publications, and other communications channels
      • Represent the Alliance in external meetings, coalitions and public forums, as appropriate, to share information and strengthen partnerships
      • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization and contribute to team priorities, taking on additional responsibilities as assigned.

    What a successful candidate will need:

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred (lived experience of homelessness or housing instability may be considered)
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in advocacy, organizing, field strategy, or coalition‑building.

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Demonstrated commitment to ending homelessness, poverty, or related issues
    • Strong track record of building and managing relationships with diverse partners, including service providers, advocates, coalitions, and people with lived experience of homelessness.
    • Deep commitment to racial equity, social justice, and housing justice, with demonstrated ability to apply these values in advocacy and partnership work.
    • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Comfort exercising independent judgment, adapting strategies to changing field conditions, and responding quickly to emerging opportunities or risks.
    • Experience using field insights to inform advocacy strategies and organizational priorities.
    • Familiarity with digital organizing tools, CRM systems (e.g., EveryAction), and project management platforms such as Asana.
    • Ability to evaluate data, track engagement, and refine advocacy tactics based on outcomes.
    • Ability to work collaboratively internally across teams as well as with external partners
    • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to lead multiple priorities in a fast‑moving advocacy environment.

    The Alliance’s salary ranges are designed to support growth and advancement within each role. Starting salaries typically fall above the lower end of the posted range but do not exceed the midpoint. Salaries above the midpoint at hire are uncommon. Final salary offers are based on a candidate’s relevant experience and demonstrated expertise.
