    Position Title: Travel & Events Specialist

    Location: Remote USA

    Salary: $73,000- $80,0000 (commensurate with skills & experience)

    Status: Full-time, salaried, exempt

    Reports to: Director of Philanthropy Operations

    Since 1988, Rainforest Trust has been safeguarding imperiled tropical habitats and saving endangered species by supporting rights-based conservation measures such as affirming and securing rights to Indigenous or Traditional Territories, recognizing Conserved Areas (OECMs), and establishing traditional Protected Areas, including those with co-management of Indigenous or local communities. Working in partnership with local organizations and communities, we have protected more than 58.8 million acres of vital habitat across Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.     OUR MISSION:

    As Rainforest Trust’s Travel & Events Specialist you will:

    • Design and execute highly impactful international travel experiences.
    • Translate donor engagement and stewardship strategies into travel and event opportunities.
    • Collaborate with a variety of internal and external key collaborators.
    • Manage external entities to mitigate delays and meet deadlines.
    • Plan and execute small and mid-scale (50 people or less) events.

    TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, WE’RE HOPING YOU’LL HAVE:

    • Experience working directly with fundraising and relationship management teams.
    • Familiarity with relationship-based fundraising at a major and principal level ($50K+ annually a year).
    • Proven experience supporting or owning the development of a travel program for a fundraising team.
    • Experience managing international donor trips, including managing support agencies for international donor travel and working with travel operators and visa agencies.
    • Familiarity with visa, travel regulations and common travel pitfalls (required); preferred experience with common donor travel pitfalls.
    • Proven experience owning event planning and execution from start to finish.
    • The ability to develop strong planning timelines, assessing risk to ensure deadlines are met.
    • Strong cultural competency and communication skills, including writing, editing, and corresponding with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage up and across reporting/departmental lines.
    • Success collaborating internally and externally to achieve outcomes.
    • Strong customer service orientation, including prioritizing and valuing relationships and relationship building.
    • Past experience vetting contractors (preferred).
    • Past experience with direct donor engagement (preferred).
    • High attention to detail, including oversight of delegated project components.
    • A self starter mentality with demonstrated decision-making and crisis management skills to operate independently while still flagging urgent needs up.
    • Familiarity with event budget setting and tracking.
    • Spoken and written proficiency in French and/or Spanish preferred.

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    Rainforest Trust is a remote first organization and the incumbent will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection, though part-time office space may be available in Washington DC. Occasional national and/or international travel may be required for organizational meetings and other events, including pre-donor trip scoping.

    Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer terminal for an extended period. The person in this position frequently communicates with colleagues both verbally and in writing and must be able to exchange accurate, neat and thorough information.

    ANTICIPATED SALARY

    The salary range for this position is $73,000- $80,000 commensurate with experience. This base compensation range represents the anticipated low and high range of wages for this position. Salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
