    Position Summary

    The Social Media Associate is the creative force behind our external-facing social media presence, responsible for crafting engaging static and video posts that show, not tell, the Galvanize USA story. Reporting to the Communications Director and working closely with the Senior Design & Marketing Manager and a Communications Associate who specializes in video editing, this role is responsible for turning social media ideas into a robust calendar of donor-facing content. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the Adobe Creative Suite, have experience splitting large pieces of content into many social media posts, and have demonstrable experience helping good but small social channels grow.

    Responsibilities and Tasks

    • Turn rough social media ideas into full, compelling social content calendars for two brands across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and possibly other platforms
    • Pay attention to internal research and programming, then pitch engaging social media ideas to the Communications Director
    • Create social media content using the Adobe Creative Suite, often in collaboration with the Senior Design & Marketing Manager
    • Schedule posts, caption videos, apply hashtags, tag partners, and tend to all other administrative nuts and bolts of social media posting
    • Use linktr.ee, pinned posts, stories, highlights, Instagram status, and similar tools to promote key content
    • Participate in a rigorous internal social media post review process
    • Engage with our audience on social media by liking and commenting on partner posts, engaging with donors in comments, and promptly returning DMs
    • Ongoing hashtag and social media trend research
    • Monthly social media analytics monitoring and reporting
    • Provide general communications support as needed, including drafting, editing, reviewing, light video editing, light research, project management, and administrative support
    • All employees of Hopewell Fund are required to complete timesheets
    • Occasional travel for in-person team retreats
    • Perform other duties as needed

    Education and Experience:

    • 2+ years of experience professionally managing or co-managing multiple social media platforms OR a degree in a field closely related to graphic design or communications
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of current trends and modern best practices for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
    • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Express, and Indesign
    • Proficiency with Google Slides or PowerPoint
    • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards
    • Ability to distill engaging content from longer source content (e.g., turn a slide deck into many posts)
    • Demonstrable commitment to equity and accessibility

    Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

    • Video editing in Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects
    • Illustration, vector illustration skills
    • Familiarity with Bluesky or similar emerging social media platforms
    • WordPress experience
    • Data visualization experience (e.g., Tableau, Looker Studio)
    • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Experience in nonprofit or political campaign settings

    Compensation & Benefits

    Salary range: $60,000 - $70,000

    Placement within this band will be determined based on years of prior experience and relevant skills.

    Benefits: Galvanize USA offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in the 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
