    Descripción

The Production & Design Coordinator will be a key creative contributor to the Ocean Exploration Trust’s Education & Outreach team, working in close collaboration with the Video Production Coordinator and Media & Outreach Coordinator to implement inclusive, visually engaging, and brand-aligned content that shares the wonder of ocean exploration with global audiences.

We’re seeking a creative professional who thrives in a collaborative, remote environment and enjoys being deeply involved in the creative process—from concept through final delivery. This is a non-supervisory role that blends two core creative functions:

    • Video production and storytelling — including video editing, graphics development, and short-form content creation for web and social media.
    • Digital design and communications, including creating graphic assets for social media, websites, outreach materials, and organizational campaigns.

You’ll bring a strong design sensibility, storytelling instincts, and a passion for translating complex science into accessible, visually rich experiences.

    Key Responsibilities

    Video Production & Creative Storytelling

    • Collaborate with the Video Production Coordinator to edit short-form video content from expedition footage to support education and outreach programmatic strategies and organizational goals across various departments.
    • Collaborate on storyboarding, script development, and production planning.
    • Ensure all content meets professional standards for video, audio, and brand style.
    • Support video cataloging, file management, and maintenance of editing systems and software.

    Digital Media Design

    • Develop high-quality visual assets for OET’s website, social media, production, and outreach initiatives.
    • Conceptualize and execute designs that strengthen OET’s visual identity and engage audiences across digital platforms.
    • Maintain brand consistency, accessibility standards, and design excellence across all deliverables.
    • Manage digital asset organization, metadata, and archiving of design and photography files.
    • Stay current on design trends and tools to elevate storytelling and visual communication.

    Team and Mission Support

    • Collaborate across departments to meet project deadlines and support deliverables.
    • Document progress and time invested in creative projects.
    • Support departmental processes, including annual budgeting and reporting.
    • Participate in off-site events and at-sea aboard E/V Nautilus when opportunities arise.
    • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that values collaboration, respect, and learning.

    Required Skills & Experience

    • 5+ years of professional experience in video editing, graphic design, or digital content creation.
    • Proven proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite design tools.
    • Proven proficiency with non-linear editing software (Davinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut X, etc).
    • Strong portfolio demonstrating both video storytelling and graphic design expertise.
    • Experience crafting short-form videos from long-form media with a narrative focus.
    • Exceptional creativity and technical skill in producing infographics, animations, promotional materials, and social media content representing brand standards.
    • Photography and photo-editing experience.
    • Strong organization, time management, task management, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse, cross-disciplinary teams.
    • Enthusiasm for science communication and making complex topics accessible to broad audiences.
    • Eligible to work in the United States with no travel restrictions.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with data visualization or GIS.
    • Degree in graphic design, media, science communication, or related STEM field.
    • Experience in nonprofit, mission-driven, or education-focused organizations.
    • Expertise with accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
    • Experience using audience engagement analytics to inform creative and strategic content decisions.
    • Strong writing skills to support video scripting and storytelling integrity.
    • Interest in working in shipboard environments.

    Compensación

All OET employees are eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance after sixty days of employment. Benefits also include Simple IRA matching funds for retirement. Employees receive sea pay for time on expeditions aboard E/V Nautilus.
