    ABOUT CURESEARCH

Every day, 42 families hear the devastating words, “Your child has cancer.” CureSearch for Children’s Cancer exists to change that reality. We fund bold, innovative research to deliver safer, more effective treatments to kids faster—and we won’t stop until every child has a cure.

To achieve this mission, we need passionate, creative, and driven leaders to join our team.

    About the Role

The Director of Marketing & Communications is a strategic and hands-on senior leader who will build CureSearch’s brand, grow awareness, and drive engagement that fuels fundraising and mission impact.

Reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer, you will oversee all aspects of marketing and communications - from brand positioning and storytelling to digital growth and thought leadership. You’ll guide a lean, high-performing team while also rolling up your sleeves to execute campaigns that make CureSearch impossible to ignore.

    In this role, you will:

    • Drive brand awareness and engagement: Lead the development and execution of marketing plans which bring CureSearch to the forefront of childhood cancer research, while ensuring the CureSearch brand voice and visual identity is consistently rolled out across all marketing channels
    • Lead integrated campaigns – Develop, build and execute cohesive multi-channel campaigns across email, web, social, influencer, PR, and paid media to support fundraising goals and drive event participation
    • Measure impact: Work with key stakeholders to define and align marketing goals and KPIs, and track and optimize performance across channels
    • Tell powerful stories – Drive brand storytelling and content development that shares the voices of researchers, families, volunteers, and survivors to connect with donors and partners on a deeply human level.
    • Empower volunteers – Collaborate closely with Community Leadership Boards and ambassadors to create and share marketing toolkits and relevant messaging to support CureSearch’s local market efforts.
    • Expand digital reach – Bring expertise in SEO, SEM, social media growth, and lead generation, to support marketing efforts; knowledge of Google Ad Grants is a plus
    • Position CureSearch as a leader – Create PR, media, and thought-leadership efforts that establish CureSearch and its partners as trusted experts in pediatric cancer research.
    • Collaborate across the organization – Work closely with Development, Community Engagement, and Research teams to ensure marketing directly supports fundraising, donor stewardship, and program visibility.
    • Lead and grow a team – Manage a dynamic MarCom staff, contractors, and vendors while fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven culture.

This is an opportunity for a visionary and strategic marketing leader to make an impact by building strong brand recognition, drive fundraising for a meaningful cause, and amplify a movement powered by families, researchers, and volunteers committed to ending childhood cancer.

    Your Impact

    • Elevate CureSearch’s brand nationally and locally, ensuring every message strengthens recognition and trust.
    • Inspire donors and partners through compelling campaigns that drive giving, participation, and sponsorship.
    • Empower communities by equipping volunteers and boards to raise CureSearch’s profile where they live and work.
    • Accelerate progress by positioning CureSearch as the go-to thought leader in childhood cancer research and advocacy.

    ABOUT YOU

    • 7+ years of progressive marketing/communications experience, with at least 3 in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations (healthcare preferred).
    • Proven success executing multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, social, email, PR, and/or events
    • Strong expertise in digital marketing (SEO, SEM, social media, email, content, influencer engagement).
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
    • Experience leading lean, agile teams and managing contractors/vendors.
    • Creative, proactive, and solution-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills.
