About the Role:
FACLC is seeking a Bilingual Staff Attorney to join our team and support children and families through direct legal representation. This role involves managing a varied family law caseload, working closely with clients, and representing them in court proceedings in Marin County Superior Court.
This role is well suited for an attorney who values client-centered work and wants to see the real impact of their advocacy beyond the case file. Attorneys in this role work closely with clients, guiding them through sensitive legal processes and representing them in court. The work is meaningful, hands-on, and often fast-paced, requiring both strong legal skills and sound judgment. You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team where your contributions are visible and your work directly supports community stability and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare pleadings, Judicial Council forms, and legal correspondence across multiple family law matters
- Conduct client interviews and provide ongoing legal guidance
- Negotiate with opposing parties and counsel
- Represent clients in hearings before the Marin County Superior Court
- Maintain accurate records for timekeeping and grant reporting purposes
- Support organizational fundraising activities and community events as needed
Qualifications
- Member in good standing of the State Bar of California
- Recent bar takers may be considered, with continued employment contingent upon passing
- Fluent in Spanish (required)
- Experience or familiarity with family law, domestic violence, and SIJS is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing to a team-based environment
- Commitment to providing services with cultural awareness and trauma-informed care
- Strong verbal, written, research, and interpersonal skills
- Alignment with FACLC’s mission and client-centered approach to legal services
Work Schedule
- 35–40 hours per week, exempt
- Flexible scheduling
- Hybrid work arrangement available
Compensation & Benefits
- $80,000–$95,000 annually, depending on experience
- Fully paid medical (Kaiser), dental, and vision insurance for the employee and all minor children
- 11 paid holidays per year, plus paid time off from December 24 through January 1
- 10 paid sick days per year
- 10 paid vacation days per year
- Annual State and Local Bar dues covered by FACLC
- $250 annual MCLE allowance
