    Position Summary:

    The Prevention Educator supports CVTC’s integrated domestic violence and sexual violence prevention department; primarily our Enough is Enough campus program, and also our OutSmartNYC, and Seeds of Hope initiatives. This role contributes to the development and facilitation of trainings, community awareness events, and outreach campaigns, and helps coordinate community-level prevention strategies through coalition-building, Coordinated Community Responses, and partnerships with campuses, nightlife venues, and local networks. The Prevention Educator reports to the Prevention Coordinator.

    A. Key Programmatic Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support the delivery of education and training programming on dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking prevention and intervention to diverse audiences, including youth; college students, faculty and staff; and nightlife communities.
    • Assist in planning and implementing community awareness events, campaigns, and outreach initiatives to raise awareness, engage partners, and promote CVTC’s violence prevention and response services within the communities served.
    • Contribute to community-level prevention strategies by supporting Coordinated Community Responses (CCRs), coalition-building efforts, and collaborations with local networks, task forces, campuses, and other key institutions.
    • Support policy and systems-change efforts at partner institutions by assisting with the implementation of prevention-related policies, sharing resources, and participating in advocacy activities that advance community safety, equity, and access to prevention and response resources.
    • Provide training support and follow-up assistance to partner organizations, under the guidance of the Prevention Coordinator, to help strengthen and sustain prevention practices and infrastructure.
    • Perform administrative and program support duties, including email correspondence, needs assessments, data collection, data entry into Salesforce, and assistance with program documentation and reports.
    • Provide guidance and support to interns, fellows, or volunteers as assigned, and participate in team-based learning and professional development opportunities.
    • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy, standards, and mission of the Crime Victims Treatment Center, Inc.

    B. Organizational Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support the delivery of CVTC’s prevention programs across its three focus areas:
      • Enough Is Enough (EiE): Contribute to education, training, awareness campaigns, and Coordinated Community Responses on college campuses, supporting first-year student trainings, Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities, and trauma-informed policy initiatives.
      • OutSmartNYC: Assist with nightlife-focused training, advocacy, and connection to healing and support services, promoting safe and trauma-informed nightlife environments.
      • Seeds of Hope: Support evidence-informed prevention programming in middle and high schools, including healthy relationship education, bystander intervention training, and student leadership initiatives.
    • Assist in the delivery, coordination, development, and evaluation of sexual violence prevention trainings and activities for campuses, nightlife venues, and community settings, collaborating with colleagues, stakeholders, and organizational partners.
    • Build and maintain relationships with NYC campuses, nightlife venues, and other community partners, responding to training requests and facilitating workshops as needed.
    • Support referrals from community partners to appropriate direct services, providing brief emotional and crisis support to survivors engaged in or following Prevention programs.
    • Assist with the recruitment, training, and coordination of campus and nightlife volunteers, as assigned.
    • Represent CVTC and its Prevention Program at selected events, citywide coalitions, task forces, and external organizations as assigned.
    • Support day-to-day operations of prevention initiatives, including partner communications, funder responses, and program goal tracking.
    • Collaborate with affiliated agencies on assigned projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    C. Educational/Professional Development:

    • Participate in performance improvement activities
    • Identify learning strengths and needs and assumes responsibility for own learning by identifying and communicating problems and learning needs to supervisor
    • Observe principles of self-determination, confidentiality, and absence of prejudicial actions
    • Participate in the professional development of other staff members
    • Participate in and assist with the facilitation and delivery of periodic training courses, including CVTC’s annual Volunteer Advocate Training
    • Participate in research, QA projects, and program and project evaluations as needed

    D. Communication/Relationships:

    • Display courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of affiliated agencies and extended community
    • Anticipate, identify, and report to the supervisor any potential issues related to prevention programming and internal or external systems
    • Utilize supervisory suggestions and constructive feedback in an objective and positive manner
