    The Regional Organizer reports to the Director of Anti-Racism and Social Justice (ARSJ) and is responsible for advancing the Anti-Racism & Social Justice mission across campuses within their assigned region by leading campus-based organizing, developing member leaders, and fostering local engagement with statewide ARSJ strategies. This role requires an experienced organizer with demonstrated knowledge of anti-racism and social justice principles, leadership development, and the ability to implement campaigns effectively.

    Applicant must be a self-motivated, deadline-oriented individual with a willingness and desire to learn new skills, and work with people in academia and in labor unions.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Work directly with chapter Council for Racial and Social Justice (CRSJ) representatives and field staff to engage members, develop campus-based teams and councils, and drive local organizing efforts;
    • Organize and facilitate workshops, lunch & learns, and monthly reflection sessions to enhance member engagement and leadership skills;
    • Lead and support campus-based initiatives and campaigns aligned with the ARSJ program's goals, ensuring the integration of antiracism and social justice values in all efforts;
    • Foster a positive working environment through active collaboration, contributing to team efforts, and supporting organizational growth and success;
    • Translate statewide ARSJ campaigns into local action with strategic and cultural relevance and propose new tactics or member-led approaches that respond to local needs;
    • Collaborate with Director and Program Director to ensure local adaptation and feedback to statewide programming
    • Document and share learnings, challenges, and member stories to inform statewide work;
    • Attend and contribute to regular department meetings, including check-ins with the ARSJ Director;
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the ARSJ department’s overall mission and objectives;
    • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with faculty and staff at all levels of the organization.

    The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

      • A strong commitment to advancing racial and social justice transformation in the union movement, the university and beyond;
      • Demonstrated experience with grassroots organizing, particularly with BIPOC and justice-centered communities;
      • Capacity to apply race, class, and gender equity analyses to strategic decision-making and program execution;
      • Capacity to work independently, adapt to evolving strategies and conditions, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines, including following organizational policies and reporting requirements;
      • Excellent written, verbal, public speaking, and analytical skills;
      • Comfortable with both structured collaboration and creative freedom
      • Demonstrates commitment to social justice and empowering working people to build political power;
      • Capacity to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends, and occasional travel;
      • Capacity to work in high pressure environments, including performing successfully on special assignments and projects;
      • Work collaboratively and strategically with CFA officers, members, interns, and staff;
      • Demonstrates ability to ground anti-racism and social justice work into the everyday work of CFA;
      • Communicates persuasively and professionally to engage diverse groups both verbally and in writing;
      • Demonstrates skill and experience creating and implementing organizing and/or strategic plans;
      • Familiarity working with union officers and member-based committees;
      • Based in Northern California or Southern California, with some travel required for in-person meetings, campus visits, and events.
      • Other duties as assigned

    Other Requirements:

      • Valid driver’s license, an automobile for business use, and proof of minimum insurance coverage.
      • Ability to lift 25 lbs., subject to reasonable accommodations.

    Compensación

    Salary/Benefits/Location: CFA offers a fully paid benefit package including medical, dental, vision, SEIU defined benefit pension plan, 401(k) with employer match and generous paid leave. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement;
