The LI Water campaign is a project of non-profit Grassroots Environmental Education. The goal of the project is to prevent or minimize water pollution on Long Island resulting from the use of lawn fertilizers containing high levels of nitrogen and/or PFAS "forever" chemicals. The project is supported by a broad coalition of non-profit environmental and community partners.
We are seeking an articulate, passionate, and highly organized individual to work with our management team to build awareness of the project among homeowners, retailers, landscape contractors, legislators, and the media.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the project's public education effort, which includes:
• Solicitation of additional supporting partners
• Outreach to retailers, water departments and government agencies
• Distribution of materials supporting organizations and the public
• Presentations to civic and community organizations
• Posting social media messages
• Handling incoming electronic and other correspondence
• Liaison with reporters, broadcasters and publications
Qualifications:
• Experience with environmental campaigns
• Excellent writing and public speaking skills
• Facility with social media platforms
• Flexible schedule
• NYS Driver's license and own vehicle
Location: Many of the activities for this position can be done remotely, but some will require presence in our office in Port Washington, and presentations to community groups will require travel to various locations on Long Island.
