    About Center DC

Center DC is a faith-based community that has been helping people practicing and/or exploring Islam grow authentic relationships with other seekers and with God since 2015. We believe that relationships are healing and that God is for everyone - that’s why cultivating meaningful faith-centric relationships between peers is the core of what Center DC does. We are a small community made up of believers and seekers, longing to grow closer to God in community, together. Based on the prophetic model of 1-to-1 connections, we facilitate opportunities for individuals to be witnessed, cared for, and supported; many who have - for one reason or another - grown distant from their faith or community.

At every gathering, we work to facilitate shared moments, support spiritual wellness, and nurture Islamic literacy by providing platforms for people to learn, reflect and speak; to be both heard and listened to. We serve approximately 2,000 individuals with over 1,000 gatherings annually. Center DC is 90% donor funded.

    Mission

Center DC is a community of folks practicing and exploring Islam: striving together to get closer to God, one relationship at a time.

    Vision

We envision a world where all Muslim spaces are welcoming ones and where all people feel welcome in Muslim spaces. Where the Quran and the Sunnah (Prophetic tradition) are the starting point for individual and collective transformation and flourishing, measured by deeper God-consciousness, stronger relationships, and consistent acts of justice and service.

    About This Role

This role evolves from the Programs & Operations Coordinator position. As Center DC adds an Operations Manager, most operations duties (space hosting, keyholding, general ops backend, special projects) transition off this role. In their place, this role takes ownership of communications and marketing - inheriting Center DC's existing communications strategy and content roadmap and will not need to build one from scratch. The result is a more contained, clearly scoped role: own the programmatic calendar, and own how it's promoted.

    Program Management - 55%

Success looks like: Center DC's programmatic calendar is booked, current, and running smoothly, with a clear pipeline of community engagement.

    • Book and manage Center DC's programmatic calendar - classes, groups, events, and speakers - based on annual targets
    • Maintain and manage Small Groups offerings, year round, and the DC Iftar League, seasonally
    • Coordinate event logistics in partnership with the Operations Manager, Peer Leads and volunteer team
    • Keep the programmatic calendar current and published well in advance so community members can plan ahead
    • Track the community member pipeline: registrations, sign-ups, participant feedback, and new-participant engagement

    Communications & Marketing - 35%

Success looks like: Center DC's programs and events are consistently and proactively promoted, and its communications presence reflects the strength of its programming.

    • Execute Center DC's existing communications strategy and content roadmap
    • Produce and distribute the weekly newsletter
    • Manage and schedule social media content, including growing Center DC's presence in photo and video content
    • Design event flyers and promotional materials; publish event listings
    • Capture and create weekly content, highlighting our programs
    • Coordinate with volunteer and paid content creators to build out photo and video assets for Center DC's marketing
    • Ensure programs and events are promoted well ahead of time
    • Utilize the WhatsApp ecosystem to support Center DC programing marketing and facilitate direct member communication

    Volunteer & Community Support - 10%

Success looks like: Programs are well-supported by volunteers, and the Program Coordinator stays connected to the broader team.

    • Coordinate with the Operations Manager to schedule volunteer support for programs and events
    • Receive community member and partner event requests and support scheduling and implementation when mission-aligned
    • Represent programs at relevant staff and board touchpoints

    Ideal Candidate

    • RSVP link before they become problems
    • Plans ahead naturally and thinks in weeks, months, quarters, and annual cadences
    • Reliable with follow-through; when something is assigned, it gets done and closed out
    • Comfortable keeping systems current, such as calendars, registration lists, trackers, and shared drives

    Community and customer-service orientation

    • Warm, responsive, and welcoming with community members, speakers, volunteers, and partners
    • Enjoys being a first point of contact and helping people feel comfortable and well-informed
    • Handles requests and questions with patience and good judgment

    Marketing and communications savvy

    • Understands how to promote a program so people actually show up, not just so it appears on a calendar and posting content
    • Hands-on experience managing an organizational Instagram account, including planning, scheduling,
    • Comfortable capturing photo and short-form video content at events and turning it into engaging posts
    • Writes clearly and warmly for newsletters, captions, event listings, and announcements
    • Keeps up with what works on social media and is curious about trying new formats
    • Comfortable working within an existing communications strategy and brand voice

    Collaboration and coordination

    • Works well in partnership with operations staff, peer leaders, volunteers, and content creators
    • Communicates proactively and keeps colleagues in the loop without being asked
    • Able to give clear direction to volunteers and contractors while keeping things friendly
    • Comfortable representing programs in staff and board conversations

    Mindset

    • Self-motivated and able to manage their own workload with a clear sense of priorities

    • Takes pride in work that is consistent and well-executed
    • Connected to, or genuinely invested in, the mission and the communities Center DC serves

    • Comfort using WhatsApp groups and communities for outreach and coordination

    • Availability to work in-person on Fridays and some evening and weekends, depending on program needs

Note: No prior familiarity with Center DC is required - the right candidate will be onboarded into the community and its culture (e.g., through active participation in the first month)

    • Graphic design skills, including experience with Canva
    • Basic video editing for Reels and short-form content
    • Experience with registration or event platforms
    • Familiarity with Islam and faith-based community observances that shape the annual programming calendar

    Compensación
