    About the Organization

    The Children's Law Center (CLC) is a non-profit legal services organization that represents children in custody, visitation, guardianship, paternity, family offense, and related child protective (abuse or neglect) proceedings in the Family Courts and the Integrated Domestic Violence Parts of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, and in appeals therefrom. CLC represents approximately 5,000 children annually in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, providing holistic and zealous representation and support in the Court, the community and the legislature. CLC's mission is to empower our clients, prevent trauma and promote wellbeing.

    Description

    Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Stakeholder Engagement & Development Associate is responsible for assisting the Executive Director in implementing CLC’s development and communication strategies. The Associate provides support on all aspects of development, including grant management, event planning, donor cultivation and more. In collaboration with other team members, the Senior Associate also works on external communications and stakeholder engagement. In short, the Associate leads projects that ensure the long-term success of the organization.

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities

    • Track, draft and submit grant applications and periodic reports to philanthropic foundations, New York State agencies and federal funders
    • Draft and submit funding applications to the New York City Council, conducting outreach and scheduling meetings with Council Members to cultivate institutional support
    • Assist in planning CLC’s annual fundraising Gala, creating website content, tracking donations, drafting communications and supporting logistics
    • Lead donor communications, writing acknowledgement letters and responding to donation inquiries
    • Administer CLC’s Salesforce platform, recording donations, running reports and tracking donor relationships; in addition, administer CLC’s online donation platform to ensure data flows smoothly to Salesforce
    • Administer backend of CLC’s website, regularly posting News articles and updating information as needed
    • Draft and design monthly newsletters to garner public support and individual donors
    • Oversee creation of annual impact report
    • Oversee CLC’s visual branding, collaborating with graphic designer to produce visually consistent and compelling assets
    • Design, draft and post social media content on Instagram and LinkedIn
    • Supervise Avodah Fellow and other development interns
    • Coordinate with government and non-governmental stakeholders to ensure support for client needs and awareness of mission

    Key Qualifications and Competencies

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • 1-2 years of nonprofit work experience or significant internships preferred
    • Strong writing, editing, document design and synthesis skills; experience with grant writing is a plus
    • Strong technology skills to navigate different grant platforms and software; experience with MailChimp, WordPress and a CRM such as Salesforce NPSP is considered a plus
    • Interest in graphic design is required; experience with Canva or Photoshop is a plus
    • Effective communication skills (written and verbal), collaboration, and organizational skills; experience supervising and managing interns is a plus
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
    • Persistent and meticulous attention to detail along with analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Proven ability to work independently with excellent judgment, diplomacy, and professionalism
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook including calendaring, tasks, etc.), Adobe, Internet searches and online resources
    • Ability to exercise complete discretion when working with confidential and sensitive information

    Salary

    The expected salary range for this position ranges from $65,000 – $70,000 annually.

    Hybrid Schedule

    This is a hybrid, full-time position that requires employees to be available for work and collaboration between standard workday hours. This position will work onsite three of five workdays and two virtual days. Employees will be issued a work laptop.
