    The LightEn Center of Consciousness & Action (LCCA) is a new 489-acre retreat center in the Blue Ridge mountains outside of Asheville, North Carolina, set to open in September 2025. LCCA will serve as a soul-focused sanctuary and learning center for individual and collective growth, exploration and transformation, focused on catalyzing the evolution of consciousness needed to solve humanity’s greatest challenges. The Center will host current and emerging leaders to cultivate and deepen the inner work needed to be more effective change agents in the world. LCCA is the home of LightEn US, which is part of the overall LightEn network.

    OVERVIEW:

    The Maintenance Technician Level 2 role represents an exceptional opportunity for a skilled and dedicated professional to join LightEn US in our start-up phase. Our team is collectively working to deliver on an ambitious and world-changing mission, providing a world-class culture through a purpose-driven lens. This project is truly one-of-a-kind and is led by an extraordinary vision of its founders, transforming everyone who takes part.

    LCCA is located in Marshall, NC, approximately 30 minutes north of Asheville. Within the 489-acre property, the center is comprised of approximately 125 structures (existing + planned), over 44 acres. The center features five teaching spaces, an 8,000+ sq ft spa, fitness center, auditorium, event hall, dining hall, reception building, administrative building, horticultural complex, and 76 guest cabins. All utilities onsite are created at the center, and the LCCA Engineering Team, which includes the Maintenance Technician Level 2, plays a vital role in maintaining new sustainable, cutting-edge technologies designed to be energy and earth conscious. The Engineering Team supports all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems onsite, and infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation and environmental stewardship. These systems reflect LCCA’s commitment to sustainability, ensuring the center operates in harmony with the natural world while providing a world-class experience for guests.

    You'll work with a collaborative team culture rooted in fairness, integrity, and stewardship of the property, with a focus on excellence and environmental consciousness. The LightEn team is forecasted to grow to 50-60 team members by late 2025. The Maintenance Technician Level 2 will report directly to the Engineering Manager and collaborate closely with other Engineering and LightEn team members. In addition to the core competencies outlined below, we are seeking candidates who have resonance with LightEn’s vision, are flexible, have a desire to learn, maintain a willingness to contribute when needed, and an ability to work from a place of inclusiveness, kindness, and service.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    As a Maintenance Technician Level 2, with deep care, skill, and expertise, you will support the maintenance and operational integrity of LCCA’s infrastructure, ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and staff. You will contribute to a sustainable and efficient maintenance program, performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks across the center’s diverse infrastructure.

    Inventory and Supplies

    • Check and log assets for asset inventory to ensure accurate tracking of equipment and materials.
    • Notify department managers about usage, repairs, or replacements needed.
    • Assist with organizing and optimizing resources used while maintaining high-quality standards.

    Operational and Technical

    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs across LCCA’s infrastructure, ensuring all systems operate efficiently.
    • Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and building systems to minimize downtime and extend lifespan.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as EV Fleet vehicles and landscaping equipment, recommending solutions to senior team members for implementation.
    • Collaborate with the Engineering team to prioritize maintenance tasks based on guest needs, event schedules, and seasonal demands.
    • Assist with maintaining the horticultural complex, spa, fitness center, eco machine, other specialized facilities, and onsite equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
    • Support minor pest control efforts, in coordination with the pest control contractor.
    • Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repair logs.

    Personnel and Collaborative

    • Support the team by sharing knowledge, promoting teamwork, and reinforcing safety protocols.
    • Maintain clear communication within the Engineering team, contributing to a positive and inclusive work environment.
    • Work closely with other departments (e.g., housekeeping, culinary, events) to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruptions to guest experiences.

    Organizational

    • Suggest improvements to maintenance procedures to enhance efficiency and quality of service.
    • Support compliance with state and local regulations, including fire safety, building codes, and environmental standards.
    • Maintain a safe working environment by reporting equipment maintenance needs, identifying hazards, and supporting accident prevention measures.
    • Support mobile maintenance needs across multiple locations on the property, adapting to varying schedules and priorities.

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience in multi-system maintenance operations (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
    • Technical mindset and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing facility systems.
    • Familiarity with sustainable maintenance practices and energy-efficient systems.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic digital tools for documentation and scheduling.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully as a part of the team.

    EDUCATION & TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:

    • Prior experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role in a commercial or large campus setting.
    • Minimum 3 years’ proven experience in construction, facilities maintenance, retreat centers, or large campuses.
    • Technical training in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or related fields preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

    • Ability to regularly carry, push, and pull weight over 75 lbs.
    • Assist with equipment moves on property when requested.
    • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and lifting required for extended periods.
    • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and navigate uneven terrain across the property.

    TIME REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to be flexible with scheduling during high programming periods.
