    Job Description

    DUTIES:

    • Supports and maintains LAN/WAN, VPN, Wireless, Switches, Network Security. Ensures all network equipment and VOIP phones remain current with security patches and software updates."
    • Participates in the change management meetings for various network security changes and maintenance activity.
    • Works with management to configure and implement new networking technologies at BPHC campuses.
    • Interfaces with ISPs for any Internet connectivity issues.
    • Travel to off-sites required.
    • Diagnoses and corrects problems on or related to LAN/WAN network.
    • Keeps all Network Gear Patches updated.
    • Support all aspects of VOIP system, Call Manager, Unity, Emergency responder and Synapp Systems.
    • Works on moves, adds and changes of network equipment as needed or through proposed projects including Cisco Phones and Peripherals.
    • Creates and maintains detailed process and procedure documentation.
    • Participates in on-call rotation outside of regular work hours in accordance with ITS On-call Guidelines. While on-call, answers and responds to calls for technical assistance, technical support or services which may include reporting to Commission work-sites.
    • Works on moves, adds and changes of all network-related equipment and applications as needed or through proposed projects.
    • Assists with special projects as required.
    • Works to help BPHC advance as an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • BA/BS in computer science or related field and/or minimum of three years related experience.
    • Experience with networking protocols, routers, switches and DNS required.
    • Experience with Cisco VOIP, firewall, switches and routers required. Experience in a Windows environment a plus.
    • Must possess clear, precise written and oral communications skills.
    • Ability to interact with Help Desk staff and work in a team‑oriented, customer‑focused environment required.
    • Customer service experience and a professional demeanor are required.
    • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team required.
    • Commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues.
    • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity.

    Additional Information

    • City of Boston residency is required; Allston, Back Bay, Bay Village, Beacon Hill, Brighton, Charlestown, Chinatown, Dorchester, Downtown, East Boston, Fenway-Kenmore, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Mid-Dorchester, Mission Hill, North End, Roslindale, Roxbury, South Boston, South End, West End, West Roxbury, Wharf district.
    • A Criminal Offenders Records Information request must be completed for this position. However, a record is not an automatic bar to employment but is reviewed in relation to the job applied for.
    • Certain immunizations will be recommended and/or required prior to commencement of employment duties.
    • Any position that requires an advanced degree will be subject to education verification.
