Working closely with the Executive Director and Studios Program Manager, the Youth Arts Coordinator will collaborate with teaching artists, students, schools, and community partners to create meaningful, culturally responsive arts learning experiences for youth. The role oversees program logistics, supports curriculum implementation, conducts site visits, and provides mentorship and coaching to teaching artist fellows.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about arts education, youth development, and building equitable pathways into the arts.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Program Coordination

    • Coordinate logistics for the Creative Futures Fellowship and Teaching Artist Fellowship programs, including scheduling, materials preparation, attendance tracking, stipends, and day-to-day operations.
    • Support participant onboarding, consent forms, transportation coordination, data tracking, and reporting.

    Teaching Artist Fellowship Support

    • Serve as the primary contact and coach for Teaching Artist Fellows.
    • Provide ongoing communication, guidance, feedback, and implementation support throughout the school year.
    • Conduct site visits and classroom observations.

    Student & Family Engagement

    • Build strong relationships with students and families through regular communication and support.
    • Foster welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments.

    School & Community Partnerships

    • Maintain relationships with school and community partners to support successful program delivery.
    • Coordinate engagement with guest artists, creative industry professionals, and community organizations.

    Curriculum & Program Development

    • Collaborate with staff and teaching artists on curriculum planning, evaluation, and program improvement.
    • Support responsive adjustments based on student needs and feedback.

    Events & Exhibitions

    • Help plan and execute student exhibitions, presentations, receptions, field trips, and public programs.

    Administrative & Facilities Support

    • Maintain inventory of educational supplies and materials.
    • Help ensure classrooms, storage areas, and shared program spaces remain organized and welcoming.
    • Coordinate on-site needs with the Facilities Coordinator when programs are held at Root Division.

    Equity & Inclusion

    • Ensure all program activities reflect Root Division’s commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and culturally responsive education.

    WHAT YOU’LL BRING

    • Experience working with youth in arts education, schools, community programs, museums, or nonprofit settings.
    • Experience supporting teaching artists, educators, mentors, or youth program staff is highly desirable.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to collaborate with artists, educators, students, families, and community partners from diverse backgrounds.
    • Interest in contemporary art, youth development, and creative career pathways.
    • Experience with Google Workspace, spreadsheets, scheduling tools, and administrative systems.
    • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of programs and events.
    • Bilingual skills are a plus.
