    USGLC is seeking a Democracy and Security Fellow to stand up and lead a significant new organization-wide initiative focused on advancing America’s global leadership on democracy, with a special emphasis on Eastern Europe and Ukraine. Collaborating and working closely across the organization, as well as with external stakeholders, this is an exciting position for a creative and entrepreneurial self-starter to create and execute strategic education and advocacy efforts and build greater understanding on why American leadership on democracy, including Eastern Europe and Ukraine matters to Americans here at home. This full-time exempt position is based in Washington, D.C.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Thought leadership and messaging:
    • Identify and execute education and advocacy efforts around advancing America’s global leadership in democracy and security, particularly in Eastern Europe and Ukraine.
    • Synthesize and tailor compelling research and data with the objective of advancing education and advocacy efforts.
    • Collaborate and lead on cutting-edge messaging and develop impactful content on the importance of American democracy and security leadership, particularly in Eastern Europe and Ukraine.
    • Stakeholder engagement and collaboration:
    • Working collaboratively with the USGLC Government Relations, Policy, Communications and National Outreach Teams, develop and implement strategies to build and deepen Congressional and Administration support for U.S. engagement in Eastern Europe and Ukraine.
    • Engage with external stakeholders – including think tanks, private sector, advocacy organizations, and other relevant parties – to shape dialogue around these issues.
    • Lead regular stakeholder convenings to strategize, collaborate, and align collective efforts to maximize impact and effectiveness.

    Preferred Qualifications, Requirements & Attributes

    • At least 8 years of experience in foreign policy, government relations, advocacy, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of Capitol Hill, diplomacy and international assistance, and U.S. engagement in Europe and Eurasia.
    • Demonstrated networks and relationships with the advocacy and policymaking community in Washington, D.C.
    • Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.
    • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • An excellent writer who can distill complex policy issues and communicate them to broad and wide-ranging audiences.

    Pay range: $100,000 to $120,000
