Research Station Program Director

Sustainable Bolivia’s Biological Research Station Program Director manages the Aquicuana Research Station and its administrative affairs. They will live onsite at the Aquicuana Ecolodge, near Riberalta, Bolivia. They are responsible for reviewing applications for independent researchers, developing research strategies and overseeing ongoing projects. Additionally, they will assist with the oversight of our local community environmental outreach program.

Duties of the Research Director include but are not limited to:

• Oversee an average of 5 researchers/educators at any given time
• Create and carry out recruitment and engagement strategies in English and Spanish
• Review and respond to research applications
• Initiate, lead, and supervise ongoing research projects
• Liaise with local communities as well as grass-roots organizations and institutions
• Provide support, consultancy and advice to independent researchers
• Lead and participate in fund-raising and promotional activities
• Asist in the implementation of community development projects
• Provide work-related orientation program for new researchers/educators
• Assist with community environmental education outreach

General Administration and Office Duties:

• Respond to calls and emails from agencies, researchers and volunteers
• Maintain, update and organize management materials
• Collect and maintain research data about activities and projects completed
• Assist with translation, interpretation and drawing up of written materials
• Other administrative duties as assigned, related to the position

Skills and Traits:

Ideal candidate will have a degree in a biological science field, relevant research experience, strong communication skills and near fluency in Spanish/English.

Provided:

A stipend of $500 per month.
