    Job Title: Social Media Coordinator

Reports to: Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Community Engagement

    Employment Type: Quarter-time (10 hours/week)

Schedule: Flexible with required availability on Sundays

Location: First Church Miami (Downtown Miami)

    Start Date: June 1, 2025

    About First Church Miami

First Church Miami is a historically Methodist congregation committed to becoming a Christ-centered, social justice-oriented, and culturally engaged church in the heart of Downtown Miami. As we reflect the growing diversity of our Downtown neighborhood we seek a creative and thoughtful Social Media Coordinator to help tell our story and grow our reach online.

    Position Summary

The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for planning, creating, and publishing engaging content on the church’s social media platforms, with a focus on Instagram and Facebook. This individual will play a key role in shaping the public voice of First Church online and supporting our mission to welcome new people into community with Christ.

This is a creative role with room to grow, and the right candidate will bring strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and a passion for storytelling in a church or similar public-facing setting (e.g., education, nonprofit, or government).

There is potential for this role to expand. A candidate who demonstrates strong leadership, collaboration, and success in meeting the position’s goals may be invited to lead and coordinate a team of servant leaders (volunteers) in the future.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a weekly social media schedule that aligns with the church calendar and ministry goals
    • Create original content (graphics, photos, captions, reels) for Instagram and Facebook
    • Capture and post content during Sunday worship services and special events
    • Ensure all posts reflect the church’s voice, values, and commitment to inclusion
    • Work closely with the supervising pastor to receive and apply feedback on content
    • Track basic engagement analytics and adjust content strategy as needed
    • Maintain brand consistency and adhere to best practices in grammar, tone, and accessibility
    • Occasionally assist with light photo or video editing using tools like Canva or similar

    Required Qualifications

    • Experience managing social media for a church, school, nonprofit, or similar organization
    • Strong writing and editing skills with excellent grammar and attention to detail
    • Familiarity with Instagram and Facebook features, trends, and best practices
    • Proficiency with Canva or comparable content creation tools
    • Self-motivated, flexible, and open to feedback
    • Availability on Sundays for live posting and/or content capture

    Preferred (Additional Compensation May Apply)

    • Experience in graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
    • Professional photography or videography skills
    • Advanced video editing experience (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut)

    Compensation

This is a paid quarter-time position, with compensation commensurate with experience. Additional pay available for candidates who bring advanced creative or technical skills.

    Equity & Inclusion

First Church Miami is an equal opportunity employer and a faith community committed to justice, equity, and radical welcome. We believe the church is made stronger by diverse voices and lived experiences. We strongly encourage applications from women, nonbinary people, transgender people, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, immigrants, people without formal degrees, and others from historically marginalized communities—even if you don’t meet every qualification listed. If you have a passion for faith-based storytelling, cultural awareness, and community building, we’d love to hear from you.
