The Coalition Against Trafficking in Women (CATW) is a non-governmental organization that works to end human trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of women and girls worldwide. Through an approach rooted in women’s rights and human rights principles, CATW engages in advocacy, raising public awareness, and supporting survivor leadership in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas, including in the United States.
CATW seeks an experienced and highly motivated Development Manager who will work with and report to the Executive Director. The Development Manager will play a crucial role in all aspects of development including but not limited to:
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Development Manager will aid in identifying, soliciting, and building relationships with local, national and international foundations, individual donors and other funding sources
- Work with Communications Director on Developmental calendar, advise on fundraising appeals within advocacy communications
- Draft, edit, and coordinate grant applications, narrative reports and required budgets and financial reports in collaboration with program and accounting teams
- Maintain a structured grants calendar and tracking system to monitor deadlines, reporting, and deliverables
- Develop and manage an appropriate major donor renewal and solicitation calendar, ensuring timely outreach, strategic touchpoints, and coordinated asks
- Maintain and regularly update the organization’s revenue tracking system to ensure accurate, up-to-date reporting of all incoming funds across grants, major gifts, and other revenue streams
- Coordinate with finance and development teams to reconcile data, and ensure consistency across systems
- Develop/maintain a donor database of all contributions; familiarity with Bonterra / Network for Good a plus
- Generate year-end donor mailing, #GivingTuesday and year-end digital series
- Ensure acknowledgements are created and sent out in a timely manner
- Keep donors and key funders apprised of ongoing activities
- Engage in the planning and implementation of fundraising and cultivation events; including but not limited to Spring and Winter events
- Manage state and federal workplace giving campaigns – including universal application as well as state applications and solicitation applications and maintain related reporting charts
- Log incoming checks and other donations
- Produce Annual Report in collaboration with Executive Director and Communications Director
- Prepare agenda and necessary materials for board and development committee meetings
- Research new funding opportunities and stay up to date on new trends in fundraising
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in development, including cultivation of individual donors, grant writing/reporting on behalf of a nonprofit organization, preferably with a human rights/women’s rights mission
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details a must
- Discrete and respectful of confidential information
- Ability to be highly collaborative
- Proficiency in Microsoft software applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Sharepoint) as well as fundraising software/databases (Bonterra/Network for Good)
- Foreign language a plus, especially Spanish
