Primary Care Development Corporation (PCDC): Catalyzing Excellence in Primary Care

Quality primary care is transformative and a cornerstone of healthy, thriving communities. PCDC, a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and community development financial institution (CDFI), catalyzes excellence in primary care through strategic community investment, capacity building, and policy initiatives to achieve health equity. PCDC helps primary care practices improve delivery of care by providing affordable capital as well as a variety of training and technical assistance services. Since its founding in 1993, PCDC has partnered with over 5,400 practices in nearly 40 states, and has leveraged more than $1.6 billion to improve care in low-income communities.

Built on its 30 years of experience, PCDC is a statewide convener and primary care expert that brings safety net providers together to develop care models and business practices necessary to remain longstanding, viable businesses with measurable impact. In addition, we continue to support providers to succeed in various State and Federal-led transformation initiatives (e.g., AHEAD, the NY 1115 Medicaid Waiver, Patient-Centered Medical Home, etc.).

    Position Overview

PCDC seeks a full-time or part-time Summer Policy Intern to support our Policy Team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Policy, this internship is an opportunity to gain critical knowledge of current health policy and legislative issues at the federal and state level. • Preparing for, and, when appropriate, attending policy meetings with stakeholders
    • Tracking key policy issues and trends affecting primary care and investment at various levels of government in and outside of New York
    • Additional duties as assigned.

    • Current graduate public policy, public health, or law student
    • Background or interest in health care / public policy
    • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong writing skills
    • Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task.

Work Schedule: This is ideally a full time (35 hours per workweek) paid summer internship position from late May/early June 2026 through early/late August 2026. This could also be structured as a part-time opportunity.

Salary: $20/hour (hourly; non-exempt). Benefits available depending on full-time or part-time status.

This internship will be primarily remote and will include some optional, in-person meetings. Candidates from the New York City-metro or Tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT) will be given preference.
