    Position Summary

Boston Arts Academy Foundation (BAAF) seeks a data-driven, donor-focused, and results-oriented Manager of Individual Giving to lead the strategy and execution of a comprehensive fundraising program focused on individual donors giving under $10,000 annually.

This key team member will manage a robust portfolio of donors and prospects, develop multichannel solicitation campaigns, and collaborate with the Boston Arts Academy school community to create meaningful donor engagement experiences. The Manager will be responsible for electronic and print solicitations, face-to-face donor outreach, and stewardship efforts. This role will also ensure accurate and effective use of Raiser’s Edge NXT®, with a strong emphasis on tracking, segmentation, and data analysis.

The Manager of Individual Giving reports directly to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and plays an essential role in the Foundation’s strategic efforts to grow individual giving. On June 30, 2025, the Foundation will successfully close a historic $36 million comprehensive campaign for Boston Arts Academy—making this an exciting time to join a dynamic team building on that momentum.

Mission of Boston Arts Academy Foundation

Boston Arts Academy Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1999 to raise essential funds for Boston Arts Academy (BAA). The Foundation bridges the growing multimillion-dollar gap between what Boston Public Schools provides and the true cost of a high-quality arts and academic education.

    Key Responsibilities

Annual Giving and Individual Fundraising (70%)

      • Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 200 individual donors and prospects who contribute gifts under $10,000 annually.
      • Lead electronic and print solicitation strategies including email appeals, newsletters, social media campaigns, and quarterly direct mail efforts.
      • Partner with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to create and implement a comprehensive annual giving plan that increases donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades.
      • Write compelling fundraising content and oversee campaign execution with support from the communications team.
      • Personally conduct face-to-face solicitations with annual donors and prospects.
      • Collaborate with the BAA school community—including students, faculty, caregivers, and alumni—to create authentic donor engagement moments.
      • Support donor engagement strategies during BAAF’s signature campaigns, including the College Scholarship Campaign and annual car raffle.
      • Work in partnership with the Director of Operations and Strategy to ensure accurate gift processing, donor acknowledgments, and campaign reporting.

    Donor Engagement & Stewardship (15%)

      • Serve as a liaison between the Foundation and school community to ensure authentic engagement of donors and prospective donors in the life of the school.
      • Partner with school leaders to identify storytelling opportunities, donor impact moments, and engagement touchpoints throughout the academic year.
      • Collaborate with colleagues on the Revenue Generating and Marketing & Communications teams to develop a consistent donor journey and stewardship experience.
      • Support post-gift stewardship including phone calls, thank-you letters, donor impact reports, and personalized donor follow-up.

    Data Management & Analysis (15%)

      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Raiser’s Edge NXT®, including tracking solicitations, moves management activity, donor interactions, and reporting.
      • Develop and maintain mailing lists for appeals, events, and campaigns.
      • Utilize data and analytics to track and report on fundraising performance, segmentation success, and donor trends.
      • Ensure the integrity of donor and gift data for use in reporting, segmentation, and analysis.

    Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
      • 5 to 7 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with a strong focus on individual giving, preferably in Greater Boston
      • Demonstrated success managing an annual fund or similar program generating revenue from individual donors
      • Strong writing and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to craft compelling fundraising appeals
      • Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT® or similar CRM, and strong skills in donor data management and segmentation
      • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple campaigns and projects at once
      • Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to work across departments and build relationships with donors, board members, and school stakeholders
      • High level of discretion and commitment to donor confidentiality
      • Familiarity with Boston’s philanthropic and education landscape is a plus
      • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events
