    Our hospitality extends to families while they are receiving treatment at our hospital partners! A Ronald McDonald House Family Room is a quiet place away from the medical space, for families to recharge, refresh, grab a bite to eat, or get rest during the long days of testing or treatment.

    Job Summary: The Family Room Assistant helps to manage the RMHC Philly Family Rooms at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (Oncology & Seashore House) and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. The Family Rooms, as an extension of the Ronald McDonald House, are hospitality lounges serving as a respite space for families of seriously ill children on the hospital units that we serve. This position will work directly in the CHOP and St. Chris environment, interacting with families, patients and hospital nurses and staff.

    Successful completion of all hospital background and health clearances required. Wearing designated and required PPE in the hospital settings is required.

    Scheduling rotation includes weekday hours: 8 am – 4 pm and 11 am – 7 pm and weekend hours 8 am – 4 pm

    Essential Duties:

    • Engage and communicate with all patients, families, and visitors that enter the Family Rooms to provide information, support and assistance
    • Provide courteous and professional assistance with all Family Room guests in alignment with organizational standards, maintaining respectful relationships throughout the Family Room experience
    • Support the onboarding, training, and management and development of CHOP Volunteers that serve in the Family Rooms
    • Provide information to families regarding available local resources
    • Educate families about RMHC Philly programs including Camp and other resources
    • Participate in Family Room procedure development and marketing coordination
    • Support expanding, creating, and implementing current and future programming
    • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Family Rooms
    • Take inventory and stock the rooms with snacks, coffee, and other supplies
    • Support operations efforts with supply deliveries as needed
    • Accept meal donations, set meals, serve families, and clean up
    • Create Activity/Meal calendars on a biweekly basis
    • Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure that all donated items comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards
    • Serve as a liaison to facilitate effective coordination and collaboration between the Family Room program and partner hospitals, as well as the rest of the RMH organization.
    • Follow all hospital partner compliance regulations including vaccinations, background check requirements, and training

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma, 2-year degree preferred
    • Experience working or volunteering in a healthcare environment
    • Experience or willingness to work with children who are experiencing medical challenges and/or special needs
    • Experience in roles creating a high level, high touch customer experience

    • Must be physically capable of carrying up to 35 lbs.

    Employees may not begin working at either hospital site until all required health and safety requirements have been completed, submitted, and the candidate has been approved through hospital security.

    Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)/Green Security Requirements:

    The employee will be registered as a vendor representative with CHOP through their third-party service provider.

    • Background Check
    • Proof of negative 4-panel Drug Testing - substances: Amphetamines, Cocaine Metabolites, Opiates (codeine/morphine), and Phencyclidine
    • Proof of HIPAA /Patient Confidentiality Training (provided by RMH Philadelphia)
    • Proof of Product Service Training (provided by RMH Philadelphia)
    • Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) Vaccinations
    • Proof of TB/PPD Skin Test (within one year)
    • Proof of Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis vaccinations (TDAP)
    • Proof of Varicella (Chicken Pox Vaccination)
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination (current to service year)

    St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children Requirements:

    • Proof of negative 4-panel Drug Testing - substances: Amphetamines, Cocaine Metabolites, Opiates (codeine/morphine), and Phencyclidine
    • Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) Vaccinations
    • Proof of TB/PPD Skin Test (within one year)
